The problem is that difficulty modes in Games are done so poorly. Devs have become just lazy and unimaginative.
You want a higher difficulty mode. Lets just slap a ton of extra HP on every single mob (including trash) to turn them into bullet sponges, make them do a ton more damage and in return nerf the player into the ground with less health, less shield, less damage output and barely any available ammo. And lets not talk about the all the stun lock mechanics, constant dodge rolls a la Elden Ring, etc.
In case of Space Marine 2, it turns the Space Marine into a cloth wearing Mage and the Boltgun into a measly pea shooter. Killing all immersion of being a Space Marine. A walking 3 meter tall Genetically enhanced super soldier in some of best armor the Imperium has to offer and using a gun that shoots miniaturized ballistic missiles for ammo.
They could have used their imagination a bit better, by able to keep the power of being a Space Marine and find more unique different ways of ramping up difficulty.
This is what disappoints me so much in Space Marine 2. The Tyranids are the perfect faction for this, as they have so many different Tyranid types in the Lore, from small stuff all the way to some seriously big scary stuff that manages to put fear into even a so called "fearless" Space Marine.
Instead, they barely scratched the surface with this faction and only gave us the most basic and common ones.
The higher difficulty modes, could have just an increase in swarm sizes (so you have to be more careful with ammo and use it wisely) and introduce new more difficult Elite enemies to ramp up difficulty, all without having to compromise the power of your character. In this case the Space Marine.
This would also give players an incentive to try out higher difficulty modes, as they get to face new more interesting and difficult (Elite) enemies.
But of course... this actually takes some more imagination, effort and time and thus money. Sadly that is not todays Game development anymore. Investors just want a turn-around as quickly as possible, so all you get is a minimal viable product with the bare minimum but with still that premium price tag. /shrug
So yeah.... lot of people are complaining and a lot of them also people that can't play... you always have those.
BUT! A lot of the complaints are valid and talk about what I just wrote here above. That the higher difficulty modes just kill the fun out of the game due to the "usual run of the mill lazy" way the devs have done it.
PS. Fair game to those that like that kind of punishing gameplay, don't care about the lore and that their Space Marine gets turned into a naked, dodge rolling simpleton wit a pea shooter.

TDLR; This game is so conflicting and frustrating! On the one hand they delivered an amazing Space Marine game that stays true to the Lore, with a campaign that is quite well done. Then on the other hand, it just slaps you in the face due to mediocracy, frustrating mechanics (sloppy and buggy) and with too little content (Multiplayer looking at you).
