They should probably revisit their review now that the initial launch mess is over. If the writer joins a guild it can be pretty fun and very immersive.
It probably helps if the person who does the review enjoys pvp, or at least is wiling to give it a try.
Just to clarify, there are issues with the game, there is a long road ahead, and it is likely that not everything will work out as the devs think it will, but they seem fairly committed and nerdy enough about their creation so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Your'll on some weird drugs bois!! This game is a unpolished gem, rough launch 4 sure. To be expected. Maybe not that bad, but ye!.. Hang in the gamers, this is one of the best full loot sand box mmorpgs out there. Hands down! .. and it will only get better .. Henrik says!

Well, I am not playing this game (the first iteration had a too bad reputation), but I think for MO2 we fall in the case in which opinions reach the extremes, and reviews may not be entirely applicable whatever their score are.
Full loot MMORPGs have a hard time to be recognized and easily attract the wrath of mainstream players.
At the same time, the ones who craves this level of liberty do not care that much about the flaws that are unacceptable in more classic games (lack of variety in enemies, lack of content, etc.). It is not like they have a lot of options. So, they are ready to experience these inconveniences in order to indulge their thirst for this type of game.
From there a low score can highlight weaknesses, that some players do not care about invalidating from their perspective the whole review.
For instance, Elden Ring has shitty PC interface. Even the fighting could have been better tuned for KBM PC players. I like the lack of hand holding for questing but honestly there could have been at least a journal with a record of what NPCs have said.
But, I don't care.
Because my experience on this game is such a blast, I ignore entirely the inconveniences, and for me ER is a 11/10. So, I understand that some players might enjoy MO2 despite all of its shortcomings, since this is what they are looking for.
I don't think the reviewer understands the game, or even put any time into exploring the game. Average player review is close to 10 but this reviewer gave it a 4?! Something not right there. I definitely will not be using this website in the future based off this fail of a review.
It's ok for someone to not like something you enjoy. Really, it's okay...
Who is the audience the reviewer is writing to? Probably through the lens of MMORPG's? A community of millions of players. Not to just a few thousand diehards. If they write every review for the diehards of that game, then every review would be a 10/10. You can always dig up someone that likes any game that's released.
They are lucky to get a 4/10, considering less than 1% of the MMORPG player base would even like this game. It all depends on the target audience.
Even if you compared it to strictly PVP games a 4/10 is probably generous. This is a niche game within a niche subgroup of PVP. I wonder what the average DAOC player would rank this. If this was gankfest.com I would expect a different rating.
This is what I think: Mortal Online is an amazing game that has received a lot of praise and criticism. Mortal Online was designed with the goal to be different from any other MMORPG’s on the market, but still provide players with the same feeling they have when playing those games. To do this, Mortal Online relies heavily on player interaction and emergent gameplay. There are no real “quests” in the game, but rather tasks and goals that players set for themselves. So, this is my point!
One... welcome to the forum! Hope you stick around and explore elsewhere. Two... here are the population charts since launch. These are all folks that PAID for the game. No F2P. As you can see, the actual people that bought the game seem to agree with the reviewer as it has hemorrhaged players. Fully understand that you may like it, but... to borrow a phrase from a popular show:
"The Tribe has Spoken"
Population down about 75% since launch... despite all the "fixes" to the server which supposedly increased capacity.

ok, but overall 57% is due to the extremely hard launch. 73% recent is way more accurate and closer to 10 than it is to 4!!
See above. Population continues to dwindle. This proves that what you claim is NOT what most actual players believe.
Rough correlation would mean that 75% of people that PAID FOR THE GAME... no longer play it. That means 25% do... which is closer to 4 (2.5) than 10... From that viewpoint it would say that the 4.0 is too generous.
I mean, I can make similar silly analogies. At the end of the day, the proof is in the player base. Population is not growing, instead it is rapidly shrinking.

It's a bot. Irrelevant link in his post and everything.
Sigh.. didn't catch that. I assume his link was to MO2.

This game needs Rust style prim building, not that whack ass building it has now. other than that im down full pvp, crafting, open world. the building is shit. leme make a base i can defend against raiders.
The game's combat, servers, and interactions in the open world have been spectacular.
I've played nearly a thousand hours in the past few months, and have to say this is the best MMORPG I've played since Lineage 1.
With the new release of Territory Control (Sieges, taxes, towns, etc.) coming, this game is set to improve even more.
The game is hard. Maybe the reviewer didn't like that; it's not for everyone, and not everyone can handle dying at first. But once you get the hang of it and get a group, you die much less and the risk/reward ratio keeps you on the edge of your seat for hours upon hours.
The dev team is ambitious and full of unique ideas. The GMs are responsive (within minutes of an in-game ticket you get a personal message and response; find a AAA game with that service). The servers had some issues this year with DDOS but they fixed it; I never DC or experience lag from the US.
All in all, 9/10 as all games have room for improvement.

So let me get this straight. Your first post on this website is on a review from March of 2022 and your main comment is that it's pretty bad and outdated. Think about that for a second.
Then your next biggest takeaway is that the core parts of the game (sieges, taxes, towns) are still "coming" 16 months after release. Think about that a little more.
And I think the icing on the cake is your claim to have played "thousands of hours in the past few months". Think about that math a little bit.
Other than that. Welcome to the forums.

Sometimes it seems the games you rate the lowest are the ones I enjoy the most.
I feel this review needs an update. It's the highest community rated mmo. It is not the same game it was when the review originally came out. I dunno I love it.
