And yet another PvP game takes a step in the direction of the market...

Well they need to do something because their average concurrent players dropped below 10k for the first time in the game's history. For context that's thousands lower than where they were before Brimstone Sands when everyone was declaring it a dead game. Honestly I think they've crossed the point of no return and will be forced to shut down unless they're just willing to keep it online as a set piece to demo AGS to other developers.

The game I'm currently playing averages about 40 ppl online at a time.

I have a lot of hours in New World and I have supported the game a lot but I am not seeing the brightest of futures for the game. Clearly the last few content patches and updates have not brought players back. Content is also a snail's pace. I am not seeing a good future for it. My old server, which went through two additional rounds of mergers, had less than 800 people on in the last 24 hours. Thats a far cry from the 2000+ from last fall.

Same for me.  But sadly, i have an easier time finding groups for content there than i did recently in New World.

this was never a pvp game. whenever you have the option to opt out of pvp its just a shitshow, and thats why nobody plays this game anymore not even the pve players stuck around

Dont underestimate the console market. They're probably more starved for a new mmorpg than pc players.
