Who would have thought that one of the creators of the Torchlight series would end up being one of the best audiobook narrators in the world. (Travis Baldree)
Glad he had nothing to do with T3 or this game.

Travis was a key player in the studio abandoning the Torchlight series to make Hob. Hob's financial failure killed the studio.

TL:I is definitely better than Torchlight 1 which was just a proof of concept and tech demo. TL:I does something D4 just doesn't in my opinion, it makes combat and grinding fun.

TL:I is surprisingly deep and my biggest issue was finding build resources other than basic starter builds or very end game ones. It's actually hard to know what to prioritize when looking to buy stuff on the Auction House.

Making all past heroes free to unlock is a smart move and one that should have been done a long time ago. Too many ultra strong characters were locked behind a paywall or a capped in game grind.

I didn't catch what Pact Spirit changes are being made so I'm unsure of how much of their P2W pet system will remain. The developers are surprisingly communicative and have been honest about the systems people disliked the most.

TL:I is probably the closest competitor to POE in terms of depth and end game. Last Epoch still has quite a ways to go and seems to add things much slower than the TL:I, D4 and POE teams.

He's also the fabulous author of Legends and Lattes.

You are right that Travis was a key player in the studio making Hob.
Travis left the company after Torchlight 2.
Runic lost their direction after Travis left the company.
The studio made Hob after he left.
Max stated Travis was so valuable to the studio that no one could replace him.
He went on to form Double Damage Games and made Rebel Galaxy.

Now he is a Bestselling author and audiobook narrator (one of the best in the business at it)

Love that book! I liked both of his books, but the first one was the best.

Yeah I really liked Rebel Galaxy. I remember wishing it were longer. Fun game but not much replay value. Someone should do a sequel. I liked the broadside combat in space regardless of the fact it made absolutely no sense.

As far as TL:I having the deepest end game other than PoE, I'm going to have to stay in the respectfully dubious category. The very short amount of time I spent in that game it felt very much like a mobile game ported to PC. Very tiny on-rails levels with minimal diversity in enemies because they had to keep within the memory constraints of a phone. Minimal controls. I lasted maybe 30 minutes before I uninstalled it. Maybe the claim is true because I'm certainly not reinstalling it to corroborate or refute the claim.

    never said that.

It easily has more end game depth than D3, D4 and LE but is way behind POE. They've been focused on that every season.  It just happens to be wrapped in a UI and art design many don't like.
