Nobody is a bigger Fallout fan than me, but the Fallout show was objectively terrible. It started out fun, and the first two episodes were enjoyable, as we got to see the world where we’d spent so much time brought to “life”. But pretty quickly it became apparent this was a “mystery box” show: the writers had put zero thought into the story or plot, and were winging it throughout production. Instead of coming up with a plot, and working backwards to write in the story beats, they just threw out hooks they had no idea how they would resolve, and maybe thought they’d write their way put of it later, or maybe it would be cancelled, so why bother? In any case, you got dead-end or abandoned subplots, self-contradicting inconsistencies, and nonsensical, cringe actions that indicate madness or astonishing stupidity. That’s in addition to the usual Hollywood ideological propaganda that so many shows force on us these days, but nobody wants. I will not be tuning in for season 2, and I think not many others will either. So a Fallout show announcement is not something I’m looking forward to.

I just went back and played FO76 for about a month and a half, it is so boring that I can't stand it.

"Milepost Zero, introducing new mechanics like the addition of caravans."

Did not help the game at all, more boring actually, which is very hard to believe.

When the game first came out, even though the bugs were nearly impossible to cope with, the mobs were hard to kill and in some places you really had to work on them.

Now, since it was taken to steam some time ago, all mobs in the game are your level and still the bugs are there. Every dam thing you kill drops whatever ammo you're using too. Like a roach drops shotgun shells if thats what you're using, the scorched dragon drops your ammo, everything drops your ammo, start the game with 10 bullets and your set for life.

The game is so easy I didn't even bother crafting the best armor or weapons cause just didn't need them. Its a shame really, such a missed opportunity.

To this day I think that FO NV is the best fallout will ever be.

HAHAHAHA...... hahahahaha. MS would have to fire Todd, before that happens.

Nope.... expect it to be on the exact same engine they have been using the past 20+ years.

I see another article was made so haters can hate, why even exist anymore...

    ahh, fuck that...

another season of the fallout series is great, enjoyed the show, it was fun entertainmant, dont mind hollywoods idealogical propaganda, stressing that everyone deserves to be treated equally is not a bad message, I can see why it would bother some people though, when you think your special and superior to others, the equality message may cause someone else to think that they should have something you have deemed to be exclusive to you and others like you

any announcemnt about the games is cool too, enjoyed each of the ones I played and am curently playing FO76 as a side game.

So on the 23rd we shell see what they say

Fallout itself is fantastic. The show was garbage. And not for the reason you're using in an attempt to defend it. The pacing, plot lines, tags, and story was a mess. The characters were all over the place and often betrayed their own personality and thought processes within the same episodes. The way they handled ghouls was outright wrong. And there is more than just that. The way you attempt to defend it is simply deflection from all these things. The same way the Acoylte was bad, this show was bad, writing.

I disagree with you and I stand by what I said, you brought up "Idealogical propaganda" being forced on people that no one supposedly wants...

Same here, it was campy and at times nonsensical, much like playing a Fallout Game is at times.

I'm not sure why anyone would have gone into watching the show and expecting anything else really, and I too really enjoyed it.

I have not seen it, but the issues you are describing are becoming common place in TV series these days. In particular I have noticed three changes. Adaptations are not being followed as faithfully as they used to be, that used to be a hallmark of a good adaptation, now making drastic changes seems the fashion. Secondly, the stories are far more character driven, what the characters are doing and how they behave is more important than the plot and setting. Finally and this was the first I noticed, emotions are paramount, be it as a reason for doing something or displaying them.

What would I like to see.... For them not to ruin the show by season 3. Sounds crazy, but it's common lately.

I want a new Fallout game, a real single/(optional)multi player Fallout game, in less than 5 - 20 years.

TV series going of the boil after even one season seems to happen too often as well now, I don't know if we are becoming more jaded there or what.

Definitely loved Fallout's first season. You are right, the longer some shows go on the worse they seem to get. Maybe writers leaving, new show runners, actors changing / getting bored, whole host of reasons.

This summer the wife and i decided to watch the walking dead series all the way through with an episode or 2 an evening. We had lost interest in the show during its live run after watching season 8 an had not watched anything after. So the agreement was we would watch every episode.

Your mileage may vary but it has been a slog to not only get through season 8 again, but the following seasons as well. We have less than 10 episodes left and i cant wait to be done with it.

Yeah a new Fallout single player game would be great, guess the timing depends on if they decide to go with a new engine. Probably lucky to get one by 2032 if they use the same engine.

I think the parallels between TV series and playing games are fascinating, the investment we put into a TV series seems stronger than what we put into a single game. We feel a sense of obligation to the good shows (perhaps the story, but for others I think it will be the characters) we often keep watching even when the series goes south. Yet for a game even one with a lot of story and characterisation most do not feel a need to complete it. Only 13% had completed my last game according to Steam achievements.

But that TV series loyalty is more similar to franchise loyalty. Most may not complete the game, but if they liked it they will play the next in the series. You even have the "this one was not so good but I think the next one may be" which we see in TV seasons.

Definitely on to something there with Tv series and franchise loyalty similarities. Maybe gaming studio loyalty is like the folks that will watch a particular actor in anything even if its not something in a genre they care for.

i bought a Mech fighting Game Armored Core Rubicon last weekend with good reviews mainly because FromSoftware the makers of Elden Ring made it and i wanted something outside of an RPG to play once i complete my current game.

Speaking of which in regards to Steam achievements adding mods stops achievements from being unlocked which may play a factor in those numbers.

For Starfield which i will finish the main story this weekend, i will show with almost no achievements and certainly not the completed achievement because i added some mods to fix and enhance the gaming experience (never usually do until after 1st play through but i didn't care in this case).
