    Neverwinter WAS hands down the best MMO ever, ruined by poor dev decisions over the years. We tried to help with feedback, but they didn't listen.

    Makes me sad to this day.

    It is now a zombie game, meaning still alive, but also dead.

    I agree, this could have been a titan in the MMO space, but instead it's a bottom of the barrel cash-grab. I wonder what I would have looked like if Cryptic hadn't teamed with PW.

    I played it when it first came out and it was solid.  A couple dungeons required some good team work and were pretty difficult.   I took a break for a while and they seemed to really dumb down the game.   I got to the point where i would log in, queue for a dungeon and beg for a group for like 30+ mins.  My GS was not "high enough" even though my gear was good for my build and perfectly fine for the dungeon.   I could have easily inflated my GS but would have been less effective.  I ended up giving up and quitting game.

    I like the game, like how it looks, like how it plays.  What I don't like is how every new content release just pushes the item level higher and higher.

    That's why games like DDO or LotRO will always have a step up on it because along wtih higher level content they also release new low level content.

    I refuse to grind or pay in order to raise my item level so I just wait for new recruit events and play through the older content for my Neverwinter buzz.

    Also, being the least popular ruleset ever released for D&D I don’t think they’ve been able to maintain a player base of D&D players which kinda shoots itself in the foot.

    As far as the D&D part goes the ruleset is the least of it's troubles. 

    Outside the names & places it's really just a wack a mole game.   Fun mind you, but D&D has always been a thin wash over the basic game.

    Gear score has ruined alot of games....Alot of us "just werent good enough" because of some stupid score...It didnt matter if the player was 2 years old or 40, it was that gear score that mattered.

    As long as I played WoW, I never, not one single time got into a mythic+ group, was always rejected for whatever reason, granted I only ran each dungeon 1 or 2 times even on basic setting becuase people wanted to run thru them so fast you cant even keep up

    I came to the conclusion that the majority of MMoRPG players or at least WoW players did not play for the actual game play but for the look at me and how kewl I am factor

    I am guessing you were not in a guild, avoid the "uber" guilds, go for something that says things like "mature" in their blurb. Well that is if you want to take a deep dive back into a MMO.

    One of the biggest disappointments with Neverwinter was the removal of the Foundry. Some of the player created content was truly excellent, involving immersive story telling.

    But of course it required dev support, i.e. company expense. So that was the end of that.

    I was sure Neverwinter was going to close after all the layoffs. I really loved this game back in the day so it's nice to see it keep going.

    Games of a more civilized and advanced time.

    This right here! I think there's a lot of people who quit because of this. Such a shame.

    This game was crap from the get go, they never listened to our feedback in alpha/betas even though they had whole veteran guilds from DDO telling them what some of the fundamental flaws of the game was.

    Instead of making a real DnD game they made a generic mmo with a shoddy and shallow DnD skin on it.

    DDO still outclasses this crap game by far even though it's not perfect, what a disappointment this game turned out to be.

    Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

    That is why I always made my own Mythic + groups. I never took people who where higher than the dungeon requires, because they don't need the gear. I'm not worried about a carry or taking longer than people think it should. It's about playing the dungeon, learning, and earning loot. You want stuff to disenchant, to grind your key level, to get your weekly done, not my problem. I built groups around a balance of melee and range so we weren't stacked too much for bad mechanics and was very wary of hunters, because they tended to over pull.

    I loved the aesthetics of the Elemental Evil zones. Too bad the story wasn't really there. Such a cool experience.
