I see that the story is still unfinished. Alts still have to do portions of the story grind and side quests to open all the idol slots as well. I think the developers and I have different ideas of quality of life.

I guess I will give this update a miss and wait for them to finish up the story.

The main story is complete. Just because they are planning to add more chapters later doesn't mean that the story is incomplete.

Do you think WoW, GW2, ESO, PoE, or D4 are "incomplete" because they continue to add content with story to their games?

Most games require you to play through the content on new characters, so I am not sure why skipping it would be considered QoL.

No they stated before launch that they still had chapters promised to people but they would be delivered later

It is NOT complete. Have you even played Epoch? Not only has someone ran away with Last Epoch, but we also haven't faced Rahyeh(the Black Sun timeline obviously don't count). Among other things(finding out Immortal Emperor's identity etc).

Yeah if you play the game it's very obvious the story is not complete. The following link is chock full of spoilers, but it documents the whole story and literally in the title states "so far". Anyway BIG FAT SPOILER WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING LINK. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE GAME OR DON'T CARE ABOUT THE STORY:

Yes I have played through it multiple times pre, and post launch. The "ending" is left on a cliffhanger, much in the same way several of the other games I have listed have done the same, or how many multi part books, and television series also leave unresolved plot threads to expand on.

Whether you enjoy this kind of story telling is up to personal preference, but claiming that it's incomplete to the point of it being flawed or unplayable is disingenuous because stories can always be built upon and fleshed out further.

There's cliffhangers, and there are ... cliffs. The entire final couple of acts just flat out run full pace towards unknown enemies and craziness. Almost as if they had nothing to do with the rest of the game. Not to mention monoliths...... (granted thats not technically storyline. or kind of is.......) Still take nothing else, the final boss is like wtf.

Huh, what do you mean by "flatout run full pace towards unknown enemies and craziness"?

Maybe so. Makes me think how the likes of Diablo 2 with its "ending"(pre LoD) would be received nowadays. And how things would be different.

I mean, outside of reading multiple wtf is the story about.. posts,  The game is about the Epoch.  Then, its about fire and ice.  Beyond that some rando betrays an almost rando, creating the "?Ending" currently.  I mean after reading some full on whats what, I seem to understand the final enemies goal(s).  Of course me having to read 3-4 random peoples interpretation of the story leaves me a little askance in... again. WTF?  I 'NEEDED' to read multiple summaries... OUTSIDE of the game to even.... slighlty comprehend the finale.  Even if I'm hands down dumber than a box of anything???? it was a reliably terrible instance of storytelling...
I've got like ... 6 characters over level 80.  I still don't entirely know who is the bad guy.  I've read various whats going ons... and still that final fight is...... ..............

The story would be a footnote if it were released for the first time today. Without the benefit of nostalgia, Diablo 2 would get savaged for its inventory Tetris, slow traversal, slow xp gains, crap combat, stingy loot, lack of endgame content, and skill tree that is way more shallow than people pretend it is.

A bit far ahead of post messages (months) but I just read the D2 stuff.  I personally find it hard to go back to D2.  It's a little old, hasn't aged real well, (the re version fixed most of my issues).  But, to people saying it wouldn't release well now, I seriously disagree.
The story itself, while barebones, is accompanied by a ton of lore.  Most games now seriously shoehorn the lore or leave it out at the gate.  Next, inventory.  I despise inventory's like this nowadays, but nowaday value is same~same.  You knew what to pick up in d2 (metal armor = money)  Over the course of the game even with shit space, ANY equipment had pros and cons.  Now. if its level 8 the same value, same stats all around.
