This article reads like doom and gloom. The servers being merged are the OLD servers. None of the new ones that came out when NW:A launched.

Hard to say. If the game was still confined to PC only it would be more telling but the console players they picked up may offset that loss.

Doesnt really seeam great to me.

The old fans servers are being flushed. The new console fans will be treated just as bad in this game. I will never play an amazon game again.

It's not greatly successful, but also not a bad deal if you confine yourself to the purchase price alone, especially if you can get it on sale.

For the money I spent I've got plenty of hours of entertainment so far and still have a long way to go before it may turn into a treadmill simulator.

Cope. The game is a failure.

Yup, my 40$ purchase with zero monthly fee, super failure. The fact that it has sold over 17 million copies and most games struggle to break 250k... failure. You might not like the game, but a lot of people do, it has some of the best combat, pvp, pve and systems that respect your play time. Keep playing LoL, or OW2 and buying your skins or whatever it is you do. The adults will keep playing fun games.

I have 535 hours in this "failure" of a game. :) I may not play it anymore but I got my worth out of it. The issue has never been the game itself (in terms of quality and things to do while leveling) but the lack of new content at times. it goes through these long periods with nothing new and the end game is not sustainable for most players, either hardcore PVP or hardcore dungeons. Still no roadmap and players are getting frustrated.

What I will say about the budget is that it was originally designed to be a completely different game, so that does play a huge role. But what I will say is more important is the engine which they still wont admit is the core reason why the game is so much more buggy than other titles. They essentially took an engine originally deigned for a survival game (which usually houses 100 ppl on a map) and turned it into a mmorpg. Its like building an apartment complex on a foundation originally designed to sustain a single-story home without reinforcement or modifications.

I have a few hundred hours put into New World and I think it's definitely worth the box price. It's one of the better modern MMOs released and the melee combat sets the bar in my opinion.

The rolling server merges and openings is one of the most annoying aspects of the game, but can be largely ignored by PvE players. Since they did a double reverse and are leaning back into PvP so heavily I will probably never return. The "end game" also gets tedious quickly. Still worth dropping the box fee on it and playing until you're done.

Pretty much. Do you think it is bringing in anywhere near the money that their expansion driven fellows are, especially those that can demand a player subscription to fully enjoy. They can't even justify the number of servers they currently have.

While I do enjoy the game and it has it's virtues it is by no means a success story.

PvP is entirely optional so I don't know how that can be considered pushed, unless there are incoming changes I'm not aware of.

No longer an issue it appears. At original launch, i think server capacity was less than 2k and lots of lag/desync during wars. Now i think we are at server capacity of 4.5k and i have yet to experience any lag or desync at all, even during wars/races. I have read about some folks experiencing bugs, but i have not run across any yet, except for some of the weapon exploits that they have YET to fix. Those are very prevalent in pvp and have almost made me buy a new keyboard a time or two. Taking a break from the game again, but since it is buy to play, i am sure i will be back. Great game for the price.
