I've seen in begin leaning into that type of toxicity already, I had to block a couple accounts that felt like they belonged on X (twitter).
Honestly on any social media site, politics in general i try to weed out, regardless of the substance, because I know it's going to go down a toxic road even if it starts out positive and well-intended. (i've made that mistake in the past with engaging in politics with good intentions.)

Well twiter became a cesspool after the new management forces content from toxic players into your personal feeds.
I find it laughable you cant block people on it.
I don't now use social media, but I was on twitter years back and it has always been toxic, that is the nature of social media. What you said sounded odd so here is a guide to blocking on XTwitter from 24 Oct, hope it helps.
