I want MMOs to stop making it so end-game is where all the content is. Make it take months or even years to hit end-game. Make it a grueling adventure to even get a single level. I wanna immerse myself into a world I can live in, and not feel like i'm being pushed to end-game so I can grind the same content over and over to get gear that will be obsolete when they add new expansions. This is probably too ambitious for most developers to want to even attempt.. but I've seen some Isekai with better world building and mechanics than most MMO out right now.

That came about because the players said that is what they wanted (well the vocal minority anyway)......I remember in classic EQ people screamed about the leveling process and only wanted to get the best stuff without working for it.

In all fairness to players older MMOs weren't so much about "working" for the best stuff and more about patiently enduring the tedium and monotony it took to grind it all out.

I'm not convinced it was a result of a vocal minority, so much as simple data. Most players of MMOs never make it to endgame, they quit during the leveling process. Those that do stick around long enough to make it to endgame want to keep playing the game because they enjoy it, so adding more endgame content to keep them playing makes sense.

Now, the type of endgame content that gets added.....yeh, theres an argument there about vocal minorities influencing designs. I'm not certain how things stand these days as i don't play modern mmos, but from the news stories i see plenty of updates adding a range of content, from story, pvp, raids, dungeons and more.

Nothng wrong with keeping things fresh. Things need to change imho. Only consistance in life is change, might as well be in my video games too.

I currently play WAR RoR and SWGEmu. Mostly WAR to be fair, but I do try to keep my shop in SWG going. Generally only need to log in a few times a month to relist stock, maybe do a crafting run on summit.

Nothing released in the last decade appeals to me at all, and all the older MMOs i used to enjoy got dumbed down / streamlined. So, emulators it is.

Only way to do this is to look where your population is having fun and ask how you can expand that gane play to be deeper. Change needs to be done with current fan base in mind.

Because we all know that the fans speak with one voice and are of one mind about what they find fun...
