Oh I expect the first 24 hours to be a crashy shit show of unexpectedly high demand. They'll get it sorted out, but first day or two is going to be painful.
I dunno, the billion+ dollars D4 made in just over a year since launch might beg to differ. You have another ARPG that's earned that much or that much that fast? PoE made $20 million in 2023, so it's not even in the same solar system or planet much less same ballpark.

If the money coffers equated to popularity and a loving community, i can think of some truly toxic and predatory mobile games, a bunch of Call of Duty titles, and a lot of corporations/company's that would be in that same solar system.
I'd be fine with a black hole sucking up that entire solar system, because it's a pretty shitty solar system.

I can't speak for the game, but money only talks so far; when you have that much hype and marketing you expect that much money.
D4 and PoE2 can both exist and both be played at the same time. The same way people play multiple mmos or rpgs, shooters etc. I don't understand why everything always has to be pitted against each other. I heard the same thing when Last Epoch launched and D4 is still going fine. I enjoyed my time in d4 and will most likely enjoy my experience in PoE2.
poe hipsters cant have a conversation without flinging shit towards blizzard/ diablo, theres nothing good about poe, its just a hipster's paradise, they'll pretend theres such great build variety but then look up the cookie cutter build and use it

Yeah there is no law that says people cant play both...it's not like politics where you have to choose sides.....

For real. I regularly play PoE, D3, Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, and Torchlight 2. I play Warhammer Chaosbane and Inquisitor Martyr and Torchlight 2.
I'm eagerly awaiting TQ2 just as much as PoE2.
I even have a one person indie ARPG called Ash & Rust that I mean to try soon. I hear good things.

I'm sorry but you're going to have to help me understand how a game can make a billion dollars and at the same time not be popular. Does Blizzard send out mob enforcers to force people to buy the game against their will? I promise if you log on to the game it's full of people playing it and having fun.
For some reason people in the MMORPG forums think that if they can make a post and get 2-3 people to click the 'Agree' button that they somehow have formed a consensus and the entire gaming population agrees with them. Keep in mind this place is a very microscopic echo chamber in comparison to the entire gaming market.
Also bear in mind my comment was directed at this
Diablo IV was never captain. Wasn't even sitting in the seat.
I'm sorry, but the game that made a billion dollars in a year of service was never sitting in the seat? You folks are seriously delusional about what the seat is or who sits in it. It's the guys driving the market. Just because the 10 folks on MMORPG who regularly post with lots of words about how terrible Blizzard is don't like the game doesn't mean the game isn't the market leader by a long shot. It's ok if you don't like it. I'm for sure playing PoE2 even though I hate PoE. I happen to like D4. I also play LE, WH40K Inquisitor, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn and anything else that crosses my radar as being a good ARPG. Titan Quest 2 is going to be epic, by the way. I doubt it's going to dent D4's market lead, though.

Excuse me, are you really a gamer? You do realise the Gaming Inquisition could accuse you of heresy for comments like that? If you are not playing my game you are part of the problem.
