I'm always leery of single developer projects. More than once I've seen that passionate person burn out and decide there's more to life than working on one game that barely pays enough to cover his cost and time.

You are correct most single developers just can’t muster the time energy and even money to finish a project.

I remember working on a hall in my skyrim mod and looking at a chunk of it that needed rubble and clutter. A lot of mods leave the halls pristine as it’s very time consuming.

Anyway, I looked at that hall and felt the most tired I had ever been as I had been working on it for years. I remember taking a deep breath and repeating that song from the Christmas movie Santa Clause is coming “put one foot in front of the other…” it was the thing that allowed me to continue. I’d also give myself limited goals such as one section of hall and I’m done.

By doing that I’d insure I’d get something done but more often than not I’d continue beyond the small goal.

sometimes it’s just making the first bit of effort that is the hardest. Took me 8 years to finish  :p

So... I'm that solo developer making erenshor and you and I are a lot alike. One foot in front of the other.

I work on erenshor daily. It's an after work, after the kids are in bed passion project. Even if I'm tired, I just *do one thing.*

One item, one quest, develop one area, whatever. 9 nights out of 10 that generates momentum and off I go, but on that 10th night, I can say "hey, I still made progress and I'll pick it up tomorrow".

4 years in and it's almost ready for public eyes. Can't wait!

That's awesome. In spite of my reservations, I mean tomorrow you could just decide to shut it all down after all, I do wish you the best. I also think the idea for your game is really creative and I'll absolutely support it should you hit a 1.0 release. It's pretty much a game made for me.

I personally have run my own business as after hours work although it was not in software. I write software as my day job and can't imagine coming home and writing even MORE software. Anyway my business failed to take off and I had to shut it down. It was less about burnout and more about the fact I was losing $3500 per month on average and I couldn't really justify continuing that in the hope maybe some day things would turn around in spite of all the trend data I had from the previous 24 months of actuals which had no indication of things turning around.

Point being I get it when you talk about mustering up the energy to work a full day, take off one hat, put on another, and go right back to work. Many times I literally had dreams of when I could quit. It's very hard.

I hope you succeed where I failed. I think your game is something that the market wants. I want to play it. I also hope you get some help. Maybe a halo investor will come in and allow you to hire a couple of people to help you out.

Best of luck to you and your game!

I hope that someday it might come to Xbox for PC/console. Rumor has it some of the NPC player characters have been asking for that. Maybe the developer has been subconsciously coding that into his AI model.
