That's probably not going to be any higher. The game looks and plays like it's 15 years old and offers nothing new to the genre. But I guess that's what happens when the entire reason you went into Early Access is because people quit buying your Kickstarter packages (after several YEARS of basically no progress).

I think the only reason it even hit 2k is from some somewhat popular streamers giving it a bunch of air time in their communities.

I actually found the game a bit nostalgic being an original EQ and EQ2 player since launch. While leveling is a grind as it was in EQ, I still enjoyed just camping some mobs and chatting it up in group with some old school players. I've played everything from EQ-New World and Ill be honest, for some reason I keep logging into Pantheon. Maybe the Nostalgia will wear off, but I feel like i am playing EQ for the first time. This game does not have the quick rewards that most games today have. Its a grind, and its a time sink... but with EQ being probably my best game experience, this might be the game for me.

The good thing about this game ... its a trip into the past, pure nostalgia from twentytwo years ago.

The bad thing about this game ... its a trip into the past and if i'm in need of such a trip why shouldn't i go and play f.e. DaoC or Istaria or Eq2 (Origins)?

There is no reason to play Pantheon. It smells like a one person weekend project from someone who doesn't have any clue what he (or she) is doing. The choice of the engine, the world-building, crafting, fighting, userinterface almost everything leaves you with with two questions in mind: don't the developers know how to or don't they care? Pantheon will not survive next spring.

Honestly ... if i'm interested in developing an old school mmorg and have the money i would spend it on a engine/grafics/animation update on a game like Istaria to get a real gem.

I wonder how many copies they sold in crowdfunding over the years. Surely far more than 2k right?

I honestly expected 10 times that on the guest weekend… and then a big dip.

No idea on the current numbers however the failed kick starter had:

    Backers: 3157
    Average Pledge Per Backer: $146

Maybe some one has the actual numbers.

PS. The Pantheon sub reddit has 26K members so somewhere between those 2 numbers I guess :)

Most of those early backers are probably not logging in via the Steam client, which Joppa confirmed I think.

Doubtful they'll share the total players logged in, always better to leave folks guessing when the numbers aren't extraordinary or even positive.

I almost bought this one, I do like old skool games, but the fear of it never being finished, at least in reasonable time stopped me.

That's true, backers have not been given steam keys.

Not sure exactly but I would think most if not all those steam users are after EA release.  As I dont think you could access the game prior with a steam key.

Also keep in mind, most of the backers got a buddy key as part of pledge.  So 5k backers would be 10k potential players, assuming they had someone to give the key too, which many probably wont.

The bad news for the game is those 10k potential likely wont be buying the game as that money is spent already, as they have the game.

I pledged to this game and gave it a try last December, but it was a huge disappointment. The game felt like something a group of high school kids threw together in a few months.

Has there been any significant improvement since then, or is it still basically the same?

I’m at the point where I’m wondering if it’s even worth logging in again. Would appreciate any insights!

They added the Ogre and Dwarf races just before Dec. Content-wise, I hadn't played for some while until recently, but when I logged in earlier today, I noticed they'd changed some things around, or added things. Like you can only have two tradeskills now, instead of learning all of them like you could previously.

It's not going to set the world on fire, but it might scratch the itch if you like playing p99 or Project Quarm.

FO peaked at somewhere about that upon release.
Within 6 weeks they've dropped down to about 100 players.

Opening day numbers don't mean diddly-squat.

I'm always confused why Project Gorgon doesn't get more love.

If you like old school feel but an incredible experience you should try it out.

It does old school/new school better than anything else I've tried.

It's pretty cheap these days and completely not p2w.

    I highly recommend it

It's REALLY quirky.  All the stuff like psychology... becoming a spider or a deer... having an "animal town"...

I did really enjoy playing it, but it's definitely not mainstream.

There are more ppl in-game enjoying their time than there are on the forums complaining.
