ED is awesome, I play it in tandem with SC. Kiss my shiny sci-fi ass you haters. The recent war was pretty cool.

Your ass shines? Well damn why didn't someone tell me. I need to reinstall ED!

Actually my issue with ED has been that the most efficient way to make money is also the most boring: space trucking. Maybe that has changed? If so then yes I would reinstall.

ED is a great game. I wish we could have capital ships, this is the perfect excuse to bring them.... to defend our newly claimed empire!

Actually no, you can make a billion in a couple hours doing bounties. Grab as many bounties as you can that direct you to a conflict zone, hop in and find all your targets and nuke them, do your x number kills, hop out to turn in and rinse repeat.

I literally walked away with 1.3 billion in a few hours. Average about 350 million an hour. Each bounty is like 300k, its insane.

Only downside to it is you need a sort of beefy ship. The highest paying bounties take some work, they are made for wings but can be soloed in a beefy conda to a certain level, I think tier 8? I forget, been a while, but its still hard. In a wing with at least 1 friend its EASY.

You can get a cheap ship built up, and go in and look for bandits that are being attacked by the Feds and just go in and help kill them. You'll get credit for the kills and won't die because the feds are nuking them to hell lol. Definitely not as fast as the Conda route, but its fast, and it's not boring. Non-stop combat. Fun stuff!

I haven't played ED in over a year but I viewed several vids about this final Thargoid invasion leading to at Earth & it sounds like loads of fun.

I've always thought ED was a good space simulator but gameplay became quickly replicated, grindy, & boring to progress.

I hope ED is good enough to give it another look.

Right it's the beefy ship part that's the problem. To get said beefy ship, how do you get there? Pretty sure that's space trucking. By the time you can do those bounties you pretty much don't need the money anymore. To get to the fun part of the game you must first "put in your dues" as a space trucker. I'll pass, thanks.

Like I said, (read the whole thing) you can go into a conflict zone with a rather crappy ship and wait for the feds to attack the bandits. Even without a bounty you'll get credits for killing them because they're wanted.

So you grab easy bounties, roll in, wait for the police to start shooting them, and get in on the action.

It's not as fast, but you can easily get millions quick and start buying what you want.

Start out with a Vulture: 4.9m credits. Easy to get, easy to outfit. Use it to upgrade to a Chieftain if needed 19.4m, or continue to save and get an FDL for 51m. With the Fer-de-lance, you can do a lot of hate and EASILY do these bounties with no issues, eventually getting you the Anaconda.

I personally went Vulture > Python > Anaconda route. I liked the Python weapon mounts better, personal choice. Both are great ships, FDL is a fan favorite.

The KEY to all of this: YOU DON'T NEED A SUPER SHIP!

Conflict zones, unless you deploy hardpoints, or have cargo, the pirates will never attack you. The various factions that come into the zone will start conflict with the pirates themselves. You can then go in and help them kill the pirates without the pirates targeting you. It might happen, they might turn on you, but they have Anacondas on them and won't last long.

Its seriously not that hard to do, and even when you're leeching kills, you're still making bank. Sure, it *might* not be 300m an hour, but it'll be decent, and it's combat. Not boring.

Yes, speaking of reading the whole thing, scroll up to my very first post where I state that space trucking is "the most efficient way" to make money. All you've done with all these paragraphs is corroborate my original point. Thank you.

I won't return until they add ship interiors.

Still trying to find new ways to pay those AWS bills, I see. To little to late from point of view as there are lots of other and better games out there to play.

With my secondary account I've played only with a Viper IV that I used to eventually buy a Krait Phantom, and a after some Community Goals, an Anaconda. The only space trucking I did was for unlocking the engineers that required it. Bounty hunting and specially the Community Goals are more than enough to buy any ship.

You can mix-max or you can play the game the way you have more fun, you'll unlock a large ship eventually anyway as making money in Elite is quite trivial.

Facts: the "veteran" ship progression is "small ship -> medium ship -> large ship -> small ship".
