I like The Chinese Room, they've done some really nice atmospheric games. This is a win imo.

This is going to be a sequel to the original, not a "remaster", thankfully we are not expected to yet again fork out for a graphics update.

I have never played one of their games, they have big boots to fill that's for sure, not only that but the game switched developer late in its production which cannot be good.

Actually I should have been more clear but was on the phone so just got the post out quickly.

I mean the original version of "Bloodlines 2." They had other developers making it and Paradox wasn't happy with it. So they put the brakes on it saying they were going to get a different developer.

Ah, I am with you now, well only launch will tell if changing horses at the end of the race was a good idea.

Look at those photo-realistic game vis.....oh, right. Humans.

:\ Why do game studios keep doing this?

If i were a shareholder or the money person; the last thing i want to see is video of people spending the money, and not even showing anything.

Out of the top of my head, I remember the new version will now start as an elder vampire, while previously one would have started as a thinblood. I like that a LOT more.

Apparently much of the code base was also redone, so the implementation of the rulesystem will be different.

I also hope that the details revealed about the new game wont sound so woke anymore. The original articles about this talked endlessly about politics and identity. YIKES !

All I want to  do is, just like in the original game from 2004, make a character and go on adventures. Yes sure I want to pick a name, clan and gender. Yes there will be some vampire politics that will force me into choices. But thats not the point and focus of the game.

[...] the game switched developer late in its production [...]

    Um.

    Thats incorrect.

Production was already overtime when the switch happened. A totally new concept for the game was made. And a LOT of time was added.

Namely the development was probably started quite soon around or shortly after 2015, when Paradox aquired White Wolf, was originally supposed to release in 2020, the development then halted in 2021, and moved to the new developer, and the game is currently believed to be released in late 2024.

So whatever the previous developer had created --- clearly their game got completely reworked.

I also remember reading at the time that they DID make a completely new concept for the game - one that roleplayers would like. We didnt get any info on what this new concept would be.

What your statement implies is that the developer would have switched but the original release date would have been kept, which is not at all what happened.

Clearly they cannot have restarted development completely, but must have reused much of the work already done, to create the new version of the game this quickly. But the story and characters however could have received a very serious overhaul.
