    World of Warcraft GOTY

But why don’t you play good games?

The mmorpg game of the year and runners up shows how slow moving the genre is, with 3 of the 4 games over 10 years old.

It will take either a very cash rich or extremely aspirational company to produce another large scale mmorpg for western audiences. The risks are too high.

Great list hard for me to find fault with any of the picks. Maybe Palworld (Sons of the Forest for me)
    Awesome list though.
POE2 surprised me. I could not get into the first one but the second has captured my attention more than I thought it would. Also, would love to see an Indie RPG category Not sure what mine pick would have been this year but Drova is pretty awesome.

As a guy whose Steam recap shows I played more Last Epoch than anything else this year I have to agree with handing the nod to PoE2. By the way I really don't care for PoE1 at all. They somehow read my mind, because I never posted on their forums, and corrected almost all of the things I hate about PoE1.

Still not a fan of poe.trade, but you can't win em all.

I do think PoE2 is polarizing because of the twins stick control and turning it into a souls-like. Most D4 fans are going to be out on both counts but especially the latter. Getting through the campaign on normal difficulty is an achievement. However when you finally beat that boss the sense of accomplishment cannot be denied. It's something you do not get out of anything in D4 or LE or Grim Dawn. While getting levels and gear can help in PoE2 at some point you will have to buckle down and "git gud". There is no boss you can face tank regardless of gear. Most of the regular trash you cannot simply face tank either. It's like Elden Ring and PoE had a baby. If it's your thing then it's really your thing. I don't foresee me picking up another ARPG for a while. There's really nothing else out that gives the same experience.

Thank you, GGG for taking a risk and building something new and different and not just following the same old formula that everyone else follows.

Well, I guess you just sold me PoE2 to me. Downloading when back from holidays.

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

Or you could wait for titles that are actually properly launched. :)

Yeah, I'm rapidly losing interest in this one and will only try it because it'll be free. This is the exact opposite of what I want from an ARPG.

Which is fine, I guess, because Last Epoch and Grim Dawn are better games than PoE, IMO.
