I was looking to see what the game looks like right now, but I see that there isn't any player screen shots. I heard there were some minor updates to the graphics and I'm sure the expansion did something for it. So can someone submit some up-to-date screen shots of this game.
I'm not a graphics whore, but when choosing between two great games, the one with better graphics wins. I'm playing DAoC right now and have been off and on for 4 years. Word of mouth has hyped me up a little for AC, but the graphics are bad enough for me to not even try. But the major issue is community size.
I play on DAoC where there is an avg. at any given time 800 people on my server, which is then broken up into 3 realms. So I know what a low population feels like. I am in a great guild and alliance, and have fun with them a lot, but when they are not on it feels almost dead. I fear that it will be worse in AC if not the same.
At any rate, the graphics my not be as bad as they appear to be in the screenshots. Only up-to-date shots would prove that to be wrong.
Thanks

I've been on AC since 2000 and I had some moments where I tried other games... SWG, DAOC and WoW. While the graphics in DAoC were the best of any MMO that I've played, I was very disappointed with the RvR. Not being able to avoid magic bolts, AoE Mezzes... all of that left me frustrated and lacking the rush that I experienced while playing asheron's call. I really think AC is worth trying simply for its gameplay. There is no other MMO out there with the gameplay and fast paced action as AC. Especially in PvP, where you can physically dodge war magic bolts and other attacks.
In AC, you have 7 types of damage that can be dealt... Acid, Fire, Frost, Lightning, Pierce, Slash, Bludgeon. From that, you have Vulnerability spells to weaken creatures (and other players if in PvP) to the attack. If you are a mage you have a plethora of War Spells... which means they are projectile in nature. Arcs which launch a full power damage in an arc, so they will go over rocks and tables..and they will hit where the creature was standing. Bolts which are full power damage but they targeted based on motion.. if the target is running away, it will lead them so if they keep running in that same speed and direction it will hit them. Streaks, which are 20% - 25% damge but they are 300% faster and almost impossible to dodge. Walls, or volleys, where you cast 8 bolts in one direction... usually stacked 4 across and 2 tall.... and they hit for about 20% each....also very hard to dodge a large wall of damage coming your way. Lastly, there are Ring spells which cast a ring of full power damage around you.... GREAT for hunting since you can attack 6 - 8 creatures at once if you surrounded.
If you would like to see a mage fight, from two very good mages on Darktide... then I'll find the link from VN Boards. Both of the these videos are duels, fights don't last nearly this long during turf battles... because wars are being shot from all over the place and guilds will single out targets to drop first.
If you would like to see a mage vs melee fight, from a very good mage and an elite melee... then click the link below. You can see from this vid, that they melee has to stick and move... you can't directly tank more than usually 2 wars... 3 wars in a row will kill most. Melees stick and move...normally waiting for the mage to cast Stamina to Mana.. and Revitalize.. that gives them a window to swing for full power, get a critical strike... then they go all speed, because the mage has to keep healing at that point because the speed attacks drive them info the ground. You see the mage performing delay casts and slide casts, both are done to hide when the projectile launches. Similarly, the melee tries to crowd the mage at first, because that will sometimes cause the spell to mislaunch giving the melee time to get a full power swing or two in.

I will put some graphics online of the Hi-Res Textures and graphics, so you can see what the game looks like since they upgraded the graphics engine.
On my guild website, Made-For-War.com, we have a members section with about 40 or 50 screenshots of our guildmates. I'll be adding combat shots to that page as well.
Anyways, I just wrote a novel...
