Movie Sequels They SHOULD Make

KontraKontra Member Posts: 132

The 25 Worst Movie Sequels Topic made me start to think.

What movie sequels do you think they SHOULD  make/have made instead of those pieces of crap? (not including movies they ARE making the sequels to... like Batman: Begins 2 or Spider-Man 3)

The top 3 sequels I would like to see...

!. Serenity 2 (I aim to misbehave again!!)

2. Star Wars 7, 8, 9 (come on...you know you want them)

3. Chronacles of Riddick  2 & 3 (Diesel is only good when he plays Riddick...so let him finish his trilogy)

I think you mean Pitch Black 2. And actually...they had it planned out kinda like Lord of the Rings. Pitch Black would be like the Hobbit, basically an introduction to the Chronocles of Riddick which woudl be a trilogy

Just watch the first one twice and picture a different chick each time... there's your sequels.

Serenity will probably get its sequels as well (*creams pants*)... that's how "producer man" plans to continue the storyline.

As for movies I'd like to see sequels to...

A Spider Man movie with Carnage in it and

Rocky 6!! - I just had too say that...

Seriously... most movies should just stick to 1.  Very few movies deserve a sequel... and the Fast and Furious bullshit should die quickly and angrily...

We can agree to disagree, or we can bicker constantly... either way, I'm right.

For thoose who like serenity and migth not know, there is a 13 parts TV series called Firefly.

If you have not seen it i strongly advice you do.

Its like Star Trek meets Clint Eastwood, awesome :)

Well you know the setting if you have seen the series.

Watch the series before the movie though if you have not seen either.

    Friday the 13th

    A nightmare on elm street

    Hellraiser

Yeah that was joke. All those movies had about 6-7 sequals... all sucked.

I'd say Serenity(Damn I loved that movie. I also loved the show)

    A sequel to Serenity 2

    A sequel to Serenity 3

I think sequels are bad.  The only sequels that are any good are the ones that are planned out ahead of time so that the bozo who's making the first one knows how the others are going to go.

    The rule should be:

ONE story.  I don't care how long or how many movies it takes to show it, but ONE story, unless you began with more than one and it makes sense to tell them (ie they have something to do with each other)

TV series should be that way too.  Tell the story.  When it's over... it's over.. Do something new, or if you do come back to it, come back to it in a way that's new.

That having been said, it is very rare that anyone makes a truly good sequel.  To my mind the word 'sequel' always means "Well we already told the story, but it was pretty popular and we can squeeze a ton of money out of it before people become sick of it, but mostly we'll just give them more of the same from the first movie because we don't want to mess with a good thing cuz you know.. thinking hurts my head."

    Blech.

Having said THAT my vote is:

Independence Day II: The story's not over.  They can make a whole bunch of play just out of how the politics of Earth works out after the aliens have had their butts kicked, not to mention that judging by the wrecks the alien saucers made, there are bound to be some alien survivors.  Can you say: Guerilla war?  Get Peter Jackson to do it too.

Starship Troopers III: And let's do it right.  I was really dissapointed there was no powered-armor.

Yeah, those movies weren't the best, but they both have good ideas and have loads of room for improvement.

I'd also watch a new movie or series based on Firefly, seeing as how they canned the series before they were done and the movie left a lot of things unresolved.

There have already been two versions of Dune and a version of Dune Messiah....  all crap.  How many chances do you want to give them?

Well I was more thinking big budget movies with "real" directors.

And what remake of Dune are u talking about? Not that TV mini series? Alto the series was actually pretty damn good, the pathetic effects and stages ruined it. I mean you could see the poster photo background...just like on Star Trek Original series...lol

The first Dune movie was actually re-cut for TV.  Didn't help any.  I thought it was weak compared to Herberts books.  I heard Herbert liked it, so go figure.

The TV miniseries suffered from mistcasting, bad acting, and way too fast a pace... but then.. My standards are WAY higher than Hollywood.

OTOH, I thought the Babylon 5 series could have gone from a second rate TV show to a powerful standard-setting series if they just had better actors.  I've noticed a lot of TV series since B5 have picked up the story arc format they used.... At least something good came out of it (that and a series of incredibly good blooper reels  )

But no.. I didn't like the most recent Dune series.  You're right; the sets were awful.  But the costuming was worse and it gave the entire piece the feel of a pretentious performance piece, like they were trying to squeeze out more than was there, even from the most trivial scenes.

I don't want movies to be exact copies of their source material (that's why I hate the Psycho remake).  If they're not going to show me anything new, why watch the damned thing.  However, I do expect the remake to have the same 'feel' of the origonal.  Dune didn't do that for me.

I would really like to see a new Alien(s) movie come out. I thought every one of those was good. I don't care for AvP much.

I thought they were doing a new Rocky movie, I remember reading an article a few months back about it. Sounds lame to me though.

I really hope that Chronicles of Riddick is the first of a trilogy. Thats what Vin Diesel does best.

Vin Diesel does trilogies? Matter of fact, Vin Diesel does sequels in general?

Rocky Balboa is scheduled for a release this year. Supposed to go back to the reality and power struggle that the original Rocky was.

I would love to see a sequel to American History X...it's my favorite movie of all time. I don't know how they would pull it off, but it would be interesting.

If they did make sequels to Serenity, by the time they came around to the third one, the ship would be flying itself.

I thought Chronicles of Riddick was the last of the story.

    1) Pitch Black

    2) The video game they made of him escaping the prison

    3) Chronicles of Riddick... ulous....
