Hello Just Started!

Just wanted to drop a quick note and say hello to all the current players.  I just started this game because I heard the community was excellent and I couldn't stand the way people are in WoW.

I know this game is hard... at least that's what I've heard, but it will be worth it if I can meet some good people and make a few friends in game.   I'm currently playing on the Hades server as a Taru monk and don't really know what I'm doing!

Take Care,
-Oshi

welcome to the game and i hope you enjoy. this game does have a lot of great people in it. they can be very mature or goofy either way its all good. also many people help out others in this game, so dont be scared to just ask someone passing by for help. anyways i hope you enjoy your adventures in vene'diel.

    ^^ Welcome to XI.

Yes the game can get a little frustrating at times, but if you stick with it, you'll meet some great people! FFXI has one of the best MMO communities since it is party based, which just makes it alot easier to meet people.

I hope you enjoy the game. ^^

Thanks for the welcome!  I am enjoying it so far and have made it almost to level seven.   I haven't met any unfriendly people yet and some have even stopped to heal me when I was in trouble.   The quests are somewhat hard to locate after you've been spoiled with the huge yellow ! over character heads.   I've decided to just start walking around Windy and talking to everyone.   I'll see how that goes!

I did have one question... is it better to start working on a tradeskill early or just sell the resources I get and worry about crafting later?   I sold one silk thread for 4,000 gil which is a lot of money at my level.  It would be hard to imagine just buring up thread practicing tradeskills at this point.   I would love some advice though as I do enjoy crafting.
