I miss the good old days......
Remember when MMOs were not "kid friendly"? I remember playing original EQ and there was nary a child to be found. It was just us old D&D geeks living out our pen and paper fantasies in glorious 3D. The games back then were long and drawn out complicated scenarios that required skill and strategy along with the will and determination to finish a quest that had you trek across endless zones. Every death meant a naked corpse run through countless foes just to recover your items because if you didnt make it they were gone for good.
I would like to see a current MMO kid take on Anarchy online. That game had a seriously steep learning curve. Leveling was a bit faster in the early levels than EQ but if you made any mistakes distributing your skill points you could end up 30 levels into the game with a gimped character and have to start all over.
The games that are out now WOW especially, attract younger immature players because they are way too easy. It caters directly to the Attention Deficit disorder crowd. The games require little actual skill or thought. the quests are mundane and repetetive with no sense of discovery and adventure. They have scripted out your gameplay experience completely and have left no room for the player to be an individual.
As long as companies continue this trend all mmos will end up as console ports with the same depth as Super Mario Bros.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
Oh to be young and stupid again.
Listen little boy pick up your toys and go to bed.
Support Bacteria, its the only culture some people have.
No, children don't ruin a game by wanting to play it.
They just ruin it with a total lack of civility, talking about things to have little or no real experience with or knowledge of, and their ignorance of the world in general.
Given your last statement there, I rest my case.
I'm 28, almost 29. my wife is 31. I work as a computer technician, she is a bus driver. We have characters of both sides.

Sounds about right.
