Hey all what's up? I just started playing FFXI a few days ago, and I am having a totally awesome time playing it. Right now my main character is a lvl 8 white mage, but I have a couple others that are fun too like a theif and a warrior. I have read every user made tutorial about grouping and stratagies and xp chaining and all that I could get my hands on, but unfortunately it is very hard to find a few people playing who know what they are doing. I am very new to this game, but I do know that a red mage shouldn't go off agroing stuff, and even the basics sometimes seem to be forgotten like a group maybe should uhhhh stick together. Anyway, I would really love to play with people who were cool, and who maybe had a clue as to the depth of the game. So I guess I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good clans or anything like that since I haven't really seen any online. Also, if there is anyone else who is feeling me on this, post a reply or something and maybe we could get a few people banded together who constantly played together and are good. I think this game could be even better then it is if there were some people who were used to how each other play and maybe even used some teamspeak or something like that.

Stick with the White Mage until you can unlock a special profession. When you hit lvl 21+, you'll be leveling around once every 2 days or so (if you play it about 4 hours a day). You'll need to find a group to further your xp at that point. Some people love "force grouping" while others hate it. It just depends on how you like to play.
The reason why I say stick with white mage is because every group looks for them the most. You should not have any problems finding a group. If you're a warrior or thief...lol, all I have to say is I hope you're good at advertising yourself cause you'll need it.

It really gives ya the low-down.
For the question what would be a great class a whm can ease into...I would say Paladin. Paladin is a great tanker (which means he/she can take quite a beating). Paladins attacks are the best in the game, but their healing powers in group hunts are impressive.
Another interesting combo I had seen before I left game (i have another game im currently playing and had to choose the better of the two....but please, by no means am I implying this game is bad). LOL, but to get back....another interesting combo i had seen before i left the game was a white mage/black mage training to be a summenor. However, if you are a Summoner u would want to find powerful friends to help you catch your "pets"
