Phantom Items

Anyone have issues with items lagging? What I mean is either buying or trading items and them not showing up for as long as an hour later, or harvesting materials and having it all show up when you are just inches from the table saw or what have you? Last night was HORRIBLE. I found myself destroying many a log just so I could get back to the tools.

It happens to me alot. I would harvest a ton of Iron Ore and I would put it in my vault and forget about it for an hour and then suddenly the items would pop back into my invetory and burden me. Is your situation the same? If so I am opening a case because that bug can be fixed in minutes.

I've never had the ore to lag on Bounty, but I do get the "Loot item and it doesn't show up in my inventory" bug. Sometimes the item shows up after a while, sometimes after I relog, sometimes never. It'd be nice if they got this fixed quickly.

It's not going to be a quick fix...and any attempt by them to make quick fixes is likely going to cause more problems. They are using a lot of integrated systems to offset forms of lag and dependancy. Once they get the kinks worked out I expect it will be a great system...but right now they've been a bit caught off guard with the way people play the game. There's some good information to read from the person who's in charge of this system posted on the fansite news archives.

I really would rather them not try to quick fix problems in this game, that's what SOE did with SWG.

Gotta problem? PATCH. Did that fix it? No? How about this? PATCH. Didn't fix it? We broke more stuff? PATCH. We fixed some of the stuff we broke, but the original problem remains? PATCH PATCH PATCH.

I'd rather wait and let AE get it right, but we all want it done ASAP. hehe

The ASAP caters primarily to the slamboys that pound the forums.

The slow-but-effective approach is the healthy way to grow the game. Horizons had a very solid release, so they don't need to firefight problems with quickfixes (at least, I don't think they need to). Instead they need to steadily improve the gaming experience.

I didn't mean I wanted them to try stuff like SWG to fix the problem, just meant I hope it gets fixed soon, and "soon" is a pretty relative term, I'd consider 2 months down the road "soon" if it's done right. I'd much rather have a GOOD fix 2 months from now than a farked up "quickfix" tomorrow.

Couldnt have said it better myself Kunou. I am thouroughly enjoying the game and if it takes them longer to get things fixed right, then so be it. I think that they have been fairly quick on fixing stuff compared to EQ.
