Isn't Irth Online somehow still running? Although, amazingly, I think they did a better job than these clueless morons. Its a wonder people stick with companies like Farlan and whoever made Irth Online.

Broken promises is not normal.
Actually thats about the MOST normal part of any MMO launch. Devs could give Politicians lessons on that one.

Give it a couple of months then ask the people playing it, Its got its issues atm, but the potential is still there and there are actually some people enjoying it
Crappy launches aren't unusual in niche MMO's. They are in the mainstream ones of today tho.
But at a guess the developer needs the cashflow to not have to shut down. Any new game, crap launch or not, generates a decetn cashflow at launch purely because new people will always try (and because most players dont read forums anyway).
It reminds me somewaht fo Eve Online launch. I understand it was crappy as hell too, and when I started a month after release it was most definately a game still in a beta stage really. But now it's three years old, has grown immensely and been developed to the point of being a nicely rounded game with relatively few bugs and irratables.
Cashflow *can* give a small developer the opportunity to finish what they start.
And anyway, isn't starting out in an empty gameworld where you need to find out everything for yourself a niche market in itself ? I read all these posts about the issue with this game and somehow it makes me want to play it more rather then less
I'll guess i'll take another looka t it in a month and probably ttry it out for a month or two maybe.
Feel free, I won't be there to group with you. Nothing personal of course, but this game is really, truly a stinking pile.
Start as a Dark Elf, lots of people running around causing lag, the normal for a launch. Start to look for quests to run to get a feel for the game, they are marked by ? above the NPC's heads. Hmm, where are the quests? Wait, there is one! And another! Woot! Wait, no more? 2 Quests!!?? OK, I'll do those to get started then, but wait, no instruction, direction, no hints in the journal on where to start in this 40K square kilometer pile of dung? Well, thats ok, I'm a self starter anyway, so in I go. Oh, but you can't finish the quests because the mobs aren't there, the quests (all 2 of them) are bugged.
Oh, and - there is no content once you leave the overcrowded, laggy, ugly starting area. None. Take a balooon ride thinking I'll find some higher level mobs to kill to make the slow levelling a bit better, what do I find? Nothing, the next town is deserted, no players, no NPCs, no mobs. Nothing.
This game was launched prematurely, and they forgot an important part, content. And to top it off, the content that is there is severely bugged. Standing next to a mob trying to hit it, and more than half the time you get the "Too far away" message, but of course, they aren't too far away to kill you! Learned that one the hard way, but well, I'm a slow learner as well as a self starter, so in I go again, then, aggro mob range is so far that sometimes you can't even see them when they aggro you, and of course if there are a few of the, bingo, revive.
I had very high hopes for this game, and in the future it might be a viable alternate to whatever professionally done game I am playing, but at this point its a waste of time and money.
Speaking of money, 54.98 USD is what you'll pay for this stinker, yep, you have to pay for the first month of gameplay.
I rate this game alot lower than the others on this site simply because it shouldn't be available for play, it's a beta at best, alpha in many ways. The pushed this out to get the revenue, its obvious.
One more little tidbit, if they don't want to refund your money, there isn't a damn thing you can do about it, do a little research on where the company is located.
Crappy or not, I personally hope, for the developers' sakes that they can still pull it off. From the way it sounds, its not going to happen, but you never know.
Everytime I hear of stories like this and similar (Wish) I get upset. Situations like these are rarely the developer's fault but more the higher-ups in the company that truely don't know jack shit about the game, just that it will make them money.
I think these companies probably start with the best of intentions. But then along the way they get more and more focussed on those WoW type profit numbers (6,000000 x 14.99) and just lose the plot about why they started the development in the first place. Then they just rush to get it out and start recouping some of the money they have spent. Which was no doubt 500 times more then they budgeted for and half whats required to do the job properly.
I doubt DnL will get off the ground. Shadowbane was a far better game at launch in basically every respect and they couldnt make it commercially viable in the long haul. History is very badly stacked against DnL.
