    Just read this thread:

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/79339/page/1

More than half the people are picking the endgame raids as the WORST thing about WoW.  That's an even worse assessment of them than your poll could ever create.

If you are curious as to WHY most people hate them, well I've made a post on that here:

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/79199

The thread has a lot of good discussion. . .  a lot of people bring up a lot of other concerns that people have about them besides what I mentioned in the first post.  There are a ton of reasons to hate 40-man raids. . .  but I think the core reasons are explained well. . . basically they are very exclusive to the hardcore acheiver play-style and leave the majority of players out in the cold.

  • I find 40-man PvE raids incredibly boring and I dislike alot of the social aspects designed into the current system.  Mainly my problem is the diluted feeling  I get when participating in them.  Also ifind the tanking meachnics of EQ-style games like WoW to be preposterous and the whole raid thing just slaps that in my face making it even worse.

However I generally enjoyed AV quite a bit.  Sure there were alot of idots etc. but all in all that was fun.  I got the exalted in AV and I only quit one game prematurely.   So I can't really say I hate 40-man group endeavors but I do hate the 40-man dragon-style PvE raids.   They are stupid and I don't really feel like I'm doing anything all that great.    Even stuff like razorgore is boring since it just a script anyway.  Maybe since I am a programmer and have decades of wrestling/martial arts experience (ie. very used to memorizing and performing complex timed maneuvers) it all just seem so one dimensional and worthless.  At least with a 5-10 people all the action is so close together and tight-knit that it makes it at least exciting.  In a raid you could wipe and have no idea why until you talk it over afterward.

Anyway I wish people would actually use some imaginiation and creativity when dicussing this issue.  There is clearly more to it than just some arbitrary number or some retarded idea of "hardness".  There are bigger and more important issues besides how much you personally are rewarded.  There is even more to it than just the arbitrary number 40.  Even someone who dislikes 40-man WoW endgame raids as much I do still likes some 40-man action (AV).  Perhaps its just the overwhelming number of trolls who frequent WoW forums, but anything even resembling a real discussion is almost instantly sobotaged by people with no imagination or perhaps no ability grant a point a in a discussion.

Hey, 40 man raid is good and fun, but with some lamers around who keep playing a fool and aggro the lvl ?? elites it will be of course a total wipe out.......due to ppl takes time to prepare for next fight!!!

So it is hard even for a 20 man raid as even in 20 man i experience a total wipe often...

"40 man raid like or dislike?" In what way is that a yes-or-no question?

lol i was thinking that myself.  i'm ASSUMING that no means dislike and yes means like?

anywho, according to mr. kaplan, a good 33,500 out of 6.5 million players participate in raids.  whether they enjoy it or not doesn't matter.  because ONLY 99.71% of wow's population DOESN'T raid, that's no reason to NOT put a raid instance in EVERY patch and make it the focus of the expansion.  sheesh, those 33,500 are the only ones that "know how to raid~!!"

BWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.   tell me again why this guy or pardo still have jobs?

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

There are too many people. And most of them are only there because that's the only place that has been made as a viable route to progress your character after a certain point.

Raiders often point out why they fear non-raider complaints.  Their objection is that if any other route offered equal rewards (even with more time involved) most raiders would not raid (That's from the small population that does raid in the first place).

The majority is people who can't/don't want to raid.
Then there is the majority of raiders, who are only in it for the items.
Then there are the few people who genuinely like raiding.

The last group can't raid and have their fun without Blizzard putting everything worth a damn in the instances.  Incidentally Kaplan himself is a long time raid player.

So it should be no surprise that he will do everything he can to keep it this way, so that he can force players to play his way.

My old guild has almsot entirely quit and most people are waiting for other games.

WoW's great til you get to Kaplan's Fantastic Fun Zerg Farm Time

random quotes from different sites on the web:

Zexsus, Blizzards Ex lead GM (Works for Mythic now) said about a month
ago that Vivendi was on Blizzards back about the number of lost
subscribers, BC has been pushed back to include more Non-Raid content,
and there is suppose to be a couple Non-Raid Dungeons thrown in before
Christmas.... so nope Bring a friend isn't just promotional, it's "get
the publisher off our backs and stop hemorrhaging subscribers".

    every
time up to patch 1.10 some one mentioned the fact that the majority of
the player base was unhappy with 40 man Raids Kaplan would throw a baby
    fit and threaten to quit.....

    he's basically a passive
aggressive sodomite that truly believes online games are for His
amusement only...Kaplan showed his ass at Blizzcon with the learn to
    raid comments…

Jeff Kaplan (Tigule): My mom has two level 60's and a level 40, and she gets MC raid invites.

kaplan is a fucking tool and needs to be removed to keep WoW going especially with games like WAR, Age of Conan and God and heroes on the horizon.

well, I never been on a 40 man raids even though I had (not subscribed atm) a lvl60 toon...

well it was becuase my guild died out, and I didnt worry as much becuase I thought it was gonna be easy to rejoin another guild.

once I hit 60, I realize you need to be in a PvE guild to go on 40 man raids...for better armors, weapons, and etc.

I had so much hard time looking for an active one, and I realize I was doing nothing with my toon for many days. It seemed pointless so I stopped playing.

I dont know... It seems really restricted... I understnd the fact many ninjas will snatch away items if you are not in a proper guild. But, I dont know... its just my opinion. for me it was even hard to join a guild. I posted  many forums, signed up for guild website... no answers...

I hate 40 man raids myself too...I'm only there for loots and I'm sure most people are there for loots and don't care about other crap.  Oh yes, it's funny how my guild has this as the #1 rule: please don't be here just for loots.  Yeah right!!!! Who the hell doesn't want loot?  You think I'll pass the item that I can use for others?  What am I ..nuts? Our guild disenchant a lot of purples in MC because most people in our guild is Tier 2. Our guild is even trying to sell "MC runs" to people who wants them.  2900g for 1 run to whoever that wants it and this dude will loot everything.  And this money is supposed to go to the guild bank ... I think the GM keeps it for himself. Believe it or not...we actually sold a couple of runs.  I think 5 now.  We asked the dude where they get their money and they were like I bought gold.  We asked them why the hell you bought this MC run and they said they hate 40 man raids.  Besides that, they had a hard time finding a good raiding guild or either they get kicked for not raiding enough.  They were at a disadvantage in PVP for not raiding and they need the bind on picked up items from end game instances.  One dude I feel quite sorry him... nothing dropped for his class so he basically asked them to be disenchanted...he got a couple of nexus crystals and 5 boes (yes, quite lucky). I guess he earnt his money back but he just wasted 5 hours in there. My reasons for not like 40 man raids is that it's boring and now that we do it so much it is so predictable and we can probably do it with our eyes closed.  You literally have to do the same raid like everyday.  All NPCs have their patterns that you can learn easily.  Once you learnt it, they are on farming status.  It's just boring.  This game is for 40 man raid PVE lovers obviously.  Again, I only raid for loots.

Yeah, I think Blizz is not smart enough to satisfy all their customers.  They claim this game is for pve and pvp but the pvp rewards are crap even after the update, buffs..they are still crap if you compare to the end game sets.  In fact some sets such as the druid blue set is nerfed as a feral druid.  6.5 million players... and they are only satisfying the 33,500 players.  How about the other millions of players?  Are you going to do something to ensure they'll continue to subscribe? Well look all the non-raiders are quitting. My friends on my friend list logged out and never come back online for months.  If Blizz did something that will satisfy those other million of players they will probably make 5 X as more money as they are making now.  Hey, I guess they don't care about the other millions of players ...you know why? 33, 500 active players X $150 (roughly the price for 1 year of WOW ..it's probably more than this)  = $5 025 000.  I guess that is enough money for them.
