UO Is a good game for its indepth system and it is such a large game, but i don't like it because of the graphics and it is quite boring unless you really get into it...
I prefer more action packed games with PvP involved like Guild Wars.

No offense here, but you seriously can't have played T2A UO properly if that's your honest opinion. I'm not having a go at you, i'm just saying don't judge UO so easily, it's far superior to any current MMO.
As for the poll, I WANT A PRE UO:R SHARD SO MUCH IT HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though, I'd pretty much give anything (my liver, kidny, girlfriend, parents, whatever), for a pre:UOR OFFICIAL shard. It'd be the best thing since sliced UO tbh.
I wish EA could take their heads outta their arses for 10 seconds to realise the current UO is dead, and that they could bring back literally tens, if not hundreds of thousands of players to a pre:UOR shard with all the old-skool rules we know and love.
I'm so tempted to actually write an email to EA, just incase they hadn't realised. But then I can't help but think what an increadible waste of time it'd be
Sadly, no, I wouldn't. As great of a game as it was it just looks to horrid to play anymore. Do I wish that I could say differently? Indeed I do, but sadly, I can not.

graphics suck.
the carebear stuff they added to uo kinda nerfed pvp.

That doesn't take away Graphics are still important. if that wasn't the case, then we would all still be playing MUDS.
Heh it's ashame... I played UO way back before trammel, it was truely the ultimate online game. Such a classic that any future game could never come close. It's pvp was like no other. ^^ Even back then I wouldn't say the graphics were great... But it never bothered me or anyone one else back then.
I think these days no one cares about gameplay anymore. All I hear is graphics first, playability second...

Nah... I rate graphics as follows: As long as the graphics are adequate I don't care about them. But when the graphics are outdated by over 10 years (UO's graphics are from 13 years ago, it's the same graphics used in Ultima IV and V) and aren't even powerful enough to support resolutions over 800x600? Then I have a problem with them and they will affect my willingness to pay to play a game.
Other than that? Nah.... Gameplay rules. Hands down. As I said I still play UO. But I don't think many folks would pay to play on a classic server. Not enough for EA to justify the expense anyway. Trammel has done it's damage. The "carebear" players have an alternative. A "classic" server will never have the numbers it would need to make it profitable.... especialy since they'd have to go after all the free-shards out there and get them shut down in order to get anyone already playing on a "Classic" server to come back

You will never relive the original UO experience since "carebear" gamers...the easy PK/griefer targets...simply wouldn't play on it. Therein is the experience that so many people pine for...that forced mixture of PK and non-PvP players that led to so many "priceless" moments.
That is a point in history that will never again be seen in this current generation of MMOGs. There are simply too many options available for the discerning gamer.
I would play a classic UO server in a heartbeart if I thought it could bring back the game to just before Trammel was released. Sadly this is unlikely to ever be the case - even if the code was put back to that point in time the attitudes of MMOG players has changed and I doubt it would feel like it did back then.
The problem is that back then there was a different attitude towards the game as a whole - UO was a place to adventure, the idea of hardcore PVP players and carebears was nonsense - we were all stuck in the same world and just did what we wanted to acheive and played how we felt we wanted to. I think in this day and age that too many people would see a classic UO server as a gankfest and PVP playground only, but that was not the attitude that made the game great.
I remember some of my earliest experiences in UO mining outside the safe zones on the road leading from Brit to Yew, seeing a red name made the hairs stand on the back of my neck, waiting to see if I would be his next victim. When I did get murdered I remember going back to town as a ghost, getting ressed and going to the bank to don my plate armour and warhammer, grabbing a few friends and heading out to teach this murderer a lesson. I remember getting killed at sea by pirates, befriending murderers, seeing the new T2A lands, riding my first ostard...
Unfortunately I dont see any of this coming back which saddens me.
Like ianubisi and Flywheel said, you're not really going to get a classic server because primarily (probably practically only) people interested in open, full-loot PVP will play, and a good chunk of them will be playing purely to fight. Most of the people who would be their mainly to explore, run dungeons, craft, etc. that were in old UO won't be in it now because they've got tons of other options; even in original UO most of them went to the non-PVP areas as soon as they were added. There just aren't going to be nearly as many of people in need of protection, easy gank targets, people who just want to go mining but band together to clear out robbers, people who want to explore a dungeon but keep an eye on any 'reds' etc.
Just look at the comments in this thread, pretty much all anyone talks about is PVP fighting.
The gods have allready struck UO with there mighty fist and the classic uo days are long gone. And will never be relived by anyone anywhere ever. This is sad and alot of hard core players that try hard not to carebear will have never had the chance to play one of the best games ever.
But lets face it,. =/ They had there chance to keep a great classic shard/server and alot of Oldschoolers,.It was sieg paralios and man it was a great shard to play on.It went into the trammel times and did hold a balaced amout of playstyles,.But some how the "carebear" as there called took over that server to,.and then,........ that was truely,.... the end of UO as we know it. I miss them times.

You're right they don't make a good game. But sometimes if the graphics suck it can usually ruin the experience.
I no I'm probably ganna get flamed for this but...
I've never played UO but from wut I've heard its alot like Tibia...except Tibia is just endless grinding and it doesn't have any quests.
Aside from the graphics, there were quite a few reasons why I jumped off of UO when Asheron's Call came out. Here are just a few....
1) The interface. They were obviously going for an Ultima 8 feel with the game, but the 52 card pick-up windowing was a MAJOR pain in my ass. For the first few weeks, I had to scroll through the gianormous list of skills in order to use them until another player told me how to assign skills to window buttons. That feature was completely undocumented. The whole thing was just a hot mess. You'd think that they would have changed the interface right around the time that The Sims came out since the interaction was pretty much the same and the radial menu was a much cleaner way to do things.
2) Thieves!!! PKers were never much of a problem for me, but thieves were like rats in town. They always hung out in town, and they could always stick to you like glue. There were more than a few times that I got pissed of and killed someone picking my pockets only to be killed by the town guards. Seriously, this was the lamest part of the game.
3) Battles were kinda slow and annoying. I like to PvP, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I just wanted to get from point A to point B. Those were usually the days that PKers would show up in droves and I would be forced to fight every five feet that I traveled. I could take down most people in one hit by the time I left, so combat was more of an aggravation than exileration.
4) making 1,000,000,000,000,000 skull caps in order to get the money to train and outfit your character so that you could FINALLY leave town. This game was a serious slow starter. If you didn't get board grinding your craft skill till you could go "adventuring", there was some really good gameplay ahead of you.
Unfortunately, all the really good gameplay was hidden behind constant annoyances like these. Carebear? Nah, I just wanted to play a game, not live a second life online.
UO was the cornerstone to all MMORPG's. Regardless if you liked the game or not, it started this entire multi-billion dollar trend. I don't know if I'd play a classic server or not, I guess it would depend on the people. Can I have my old guild from '98 back?

Bingo. Pre-Trammel UO is gone forever, because even if you re-created the game, the world is different.
I might play, if its populated enough and if i can get some of my old friends back into it.
It also depends on the grind factor tho, cause idolising UO may be fun, but it was one hell of a grindfest too at times. Unless of course you'd just return teh old training macros in your 'classic' server as well.
But yeah, for old times sake. Not for quality tho, there's better games out there now.
UO was a part of my life that no one will ever understand. I have been playing computer games for a very long time, but Ultima Online was the game that truly got me into the genre. I started playing at it's conception and personally I think that the graphics have declined over time. There is just something about the beautiful 2D graphics that still catch my eye. Yes, you can say that they are oudated, and they are... but there is something about the way that the graphics look, or their relation to my childhood which makes me love them even more so. Ultima Online is the only game that I am still addicted too, but have stopped playing long ago. I have tried to go back a few times, but it has never been the same. The money issue has never really been a problem for me, but I am not your average individual. I miss the trials and tribulations which came with the game, the friends that I made, and the fun that I had. I believe that they have really screwed that game up over time, and have looked at it as a commercial endevour, instead of looking at the bigger picture. Their correct action should have been to release UO2, but they failed to do so. My friends and I personally believe that one of the guys at the top was paid to cancel the game. It was around the time that EQ was doing really well and a few others were also flourishing. To those of you who remember these times, I raise my glass to you. I hope that one day we will have experiences such as the past. First, and foremost, however, it will take the community of the future to realize what gaming is all about. It's about community, and having fun together. I am a hardcore PVP player, and have developed some of the best guilds in the genre, not just based on skill and devotion, but also in character. It has been several years since a good game has been put out, but I look forward to future.
P.S.
Skill based systems are much better than level based systems. We didn't grind, we had fun!

I would pay 20$ a month for a classic server and more than double if I could transfer my chars and inventory (that still exist) to that server.
As for the graphics, I dont understand the mentality. If its not 3D then its necessarly ugly . The UO gfxs are beautiful, just not 3D...
