nerfing

How many hope mythic dont pay attention to the whinning player base of cry babies on the chars/ skills this time around? Most the nerfs they made seemed to be based of the non stop crying of players not being able to be the top dog killer in daoc makeing the game a nerf fest. Just wanted to hear opinions. If ya didnt play daoc nothing to look at move along 8).

Agreed. To Mythic's credit though, they have to get feedback from somewhere, and with low populations of Pendragon and feedback forms that were mostly of "my class can't kill everyone" variety, they didn't have alot of options. Another point in Mythic's favor this time, DAOC had a starting point and unlimited direction in which Mythic could change it. WAR will be just the opposite, they can only make changes that fit within the Warhammer universe. Let's hope that Mythic's experience with DAOC and GW's insight/oversight combine to make WAR a great game.

On the flip side of the coin of people whining about class abilites is everyone that percieves "nerfs" as a threat of some sort.

People on both sides almost always fail to see how and why the changes were done for the better of the entire game.

If you have to make a few smizzards cry to preserve the games long term health then so be it.

I say give us a system like WOW's rest system, that way you can get more characters faster.  So you can stock up just in case one is tweaked a way you personally don't enjoy.

Uh, it's not because people whine or cry that things get "nerfed", its because its impossible to create an online game and forsee every combination of skills and equipment and how they perform against other skills and equipment, it's called Class balance, and even games that have been out for years are still struggling with it.

Was gonna say something along the lines of Necran's comment.  Mythic didn't go the easy route like WoW did.   Every realm had unique classes with skill combinations.  Each realm also had their own equipment.  That must have been hell to balance and, all things considered, I think they managed pretty well.

WoW basically has only two classes to watch for balance (shaman and paladin), because everything else exists on both sides.  Then all that remains are racial abilities, none of which are big game breakers.

Nerfs will happen.  Class balance is important to the health of a game, especially a RvR-oriented game.

Not all the nerfs were warrented nor did it fix things either. Some classes were nerfed to unplayable while others no longer having a counter reigned hell on the other realms. Nerfing will happen but they need to truely test these nerfs. Pendragon never had the pops to see the real damage done by them.
