Dark and Light: Moved to Live List

DanaDana Member Posts: 2,415

They flicked the switch and so have we. Dark & Light is now on our Live Game List and available for readers to cast their rating based on what they've seen so far.

To date, the game has not faired so well, garnering only a 3.8/10 rating.

MMORPG.com is hard at work on our review and will have one within the next month after giving the game a hard look.

Can't wait to see what you guy give it....although for some reason 7 seems to be average in most reviewer's eyes wouldn't that make the max 14? Until games Like DnL come along there really wasn' a reason to have the ones and two's

You're looking at the scale differently than we are.

Think of it like school. In school if you get 70%, you get a C. C is the average.

I'm not sure that "live" is the right word for D&L. DOA more like.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

I see...Well wouldn't that make 60%-65% a failing grade? Could you give me an example of what you would consider a 1 in certain cthe major catagorys?

    Here is a rough scale:
    • 9.0-10.0 = A (you could buy the product on this aspect alone)
    • 8.0-8.9 = B (above average)
    • 7.0-7.9 = C (average)
    • 6.0-6.9 = D (below-average, but not a game breaker)
    • 5.0-5.9 = F (poor, but not unusuable)
    • 1.0-4.9 = F- (absolutely terrible, maybe even unplayable)
Obviously, there is a lot of confusion here. I am writing up a document that will be available on the site that explains this and other frequent questions. The only "1" I can remember is RYL for "community". They received this due to their completely self-centered attitude, their refusual to so much as acknowledge others and the reports of rampant cheating.

Some would say that the parts I highlighted in red also describes D&L and how Farlan has treated its community ...

just my opinion here but using that scale I would think that DnL would fall around the 5.0 - 6.9 for most of the areas. Although some would skating the 4.9 edge. That is judging it from the stress test version, I think the live version has a lot more problems than the stress test from reading their forums.

Anyway I am curious to see if they can improve it over the next month, and look forward to the review.

We're going into it with a clean slate. So only things after launch will be considered. Reviews typically take 3-4 weeks. So hopefully you'll have your answer soon.

Well thanks for clearing that up for us...

It is absolutely horrid.  I can not believe I dropped 55 dollars for the game and a month of play.  Do you remember UO or M59?  Pick one of them up and it would be an improvement.  Games should be a step forward not a step back in MMOs history.

    My vote  a 1.

No way to cancel the game on the pages they have listed either.

Crash after crash  shadowbane was better.

Graphics below par, people that give this game higher marks haven't played other games with better graphics.  IMO play Horizons for a better version of a similar game.  Better yet get WoW or EQ/EQ2.

Sounds tolerable though I turned them off.

Man I am pissed about how awful this game is......

I wish I could rate and comment concerning game content etc. Unfortunately like many others I am unable to create an account and even worse unable to get any response from DnL. If it is the objective of DnL to prevent customers from playing the game they have succeeded entirely and deserve 10/10; if not, the only rating I can give them is 0.

I'm also eager to read an "impartial" review, as I read it seems to be like opera, some love some hate.

You might be onto something there, kind of like when the wife asks me something that I don't know the answer to anymore I might reply that "I don't know but that I will google it out". Maybe instead of saying "wow they really fouled that one up", I'll say something like "wow they really DnL'ed that one"

Good luck reviewing it. It's hard considering how little actual content there is and how boring the game becomes after 1 hour of doing the same thing - grind for XP.

Looks like a very good summary of NCSoft :)

Holy Craptacular, I feel sorry for the MMORPG.com reviewers. They are going to spend three to four weeks walking through that Shiite. They are going to need our support. Let's give them a hug when they are done and a tall cold one.::::06::

I don't wish that on any gamer; well maybe a couple guilds that wiped out a few of my cities in Shadowbane. ::::19::

    Agreed.
I give anyone that is willing to take on reviewing D&L for 3-4 weeks a very brave and couragous soul.
I do hope they have enough beer, "wacky tabacci", or whatever it is that will make it tolerable for the next few weeks.

This is to you guys and hopefully to read that review soon.

THey will spend that long waiting to redo their configurations, waiting for the login screwups, waiting for the patches to be fixed, waiting for customer service. However they could pop right into the forums and be blasted to hell and back right away.
