Am I the only one who noticed that as WAR gets more well know they compare alot to DAoC (well they did learn from there mistakes in it) so now the DAoC score on this web sites has gone WAY UP alot (.3 points). Do you think its cause no people go "wow we can play WAR but with a diffrent setting"
I dont know just thought i tell you guys this what do you guys think.

And anyone that does 10 minutes of research on WAR quickly finds out that the game is being designed with RvR like DAOC. And DAOC is the closest thing you can get, currently, to what WAR might be like.
A lot of my WoW guild has left for other games. If only DAOC's interface wasn't so "clunky" I might have been able to get them to try it.
DAOC was great but a lot of people got tired of it for various reasons (ToA sure but you simply grow tired of stuff after a while for many reasons), people that grade it now either still play or remember how much fun they had playing it in the first place. I wouldn't recommend DAOC to anyone that was introduced to MMO's through WoW because it is a little "clunky", graphics are good with the latest expansion etc. but it simply takes too long to get to end game RvR where the game really shines (and BG's against twinks isn't fun for someone with regular gear, not as bad as WoW of course but still not good PvP). DAOC was great and still is, it deserves good ratings and I have a feeling some of the old reviews where people blowing off steam after finally quitting... When you play a game for years quitting can be a rough experience...
See I know all of what you speak of I am a DAoC player I have only left once and i am currently getting back on it right now actualy I also want to disagree with what one of you said about bgs not being fun for people with basic armor. I love to make stealthers and tanks get generic armor and go be a back up tank or a solol stealther cause i pick off stragglers but I know what you mea about ToA I used to like it actualy but after i got all the artis i needed for awhile i got sick of lvling them and i started to get poor not being able to repair my weapons and thus making my toon suck which ment less money and so on so its was a down ward spiral but now with the classic servers i love low lvl bgs casue i can take any class learn the basics and actual( well usly) do realy well I just hope that WAR will not have a ToA version lol otherwise they will regret it. I reccommend this game for all peopel I am currently helping my friends switch to it from WoW and the first one loves it says its much better alot less hacks so i guess i will hope the other 3 will like it just as much cause now i got a fg on DAoC which ever server i go lol
gl guys and god bless
I left Daoc for SWG, L2, WoW, RL (real life), Planetside, GW... and i'm about to activate my account once again....
Daoc has the best RvR system! (even better then RL!)
And that's why i always come back to it...
Of course ToA and DR don't help!
can someone explain the shortens; RvR(guess its something versus something) ToA and DR... just expansions to DaoC?
and no, didnt play DaoC :P
i surly hope people will be more picky about WAR compared to WoW.. all sorts of annoying players joined WoW rather fast, and im quite sick of it.
ToA = Trials of Atlantis. Expansion that brought a lot of raid content, hated by many as the artifacts made big difference in RvR and it took long time to get them and level them up.
DR = Darkness Rising. Newest expansion. Many say this is how ToA should have been.
Many people I know are just excited about the posibilities that WAR will bring to RVR. I know many people were upset when they changed RVR in DAOC, but overall I think it was a good change even though the battles are not the same anymore. I'm sure there are old DAOC players that are coming back to the game so that they can brush up on their RVR skills. Plus new players are coming to see what WAR might feel like. Some of these new players are just WAR fans that have never played MMOs before.
Plus I'm sure there are plenty of people who have graduated from the simplistic WOW system into the more advanced DAOC system.

To clarify it a bit more, RVR is when a game has two or more "factions" that can compete against one another.
A "faction" is basically just a huge group of different peoples in the game. It can be a country/nation (like in DAoC), or a group of countries/nations (like in WOW). Factions in PVP normally limit who and how you can fight other players. For example, in WOW, you can't actually kill anyone from your faction, but you can still duel them (duels ended at 1 Health).
Some games with RVR-type stuff are WOW (Alliance vs. Horde), CoH/CoV (heroes vs. villains), and EQ2 (good vs. evil).
