My Notebook is kinda weak and cannot handle most 3D games so Im looking for the best 2D game or something that does not require a dedicated video card. I want something that is well aminated and pleasing to the eye. What popular 2D MMOs are available?
Looking for something with a good community open to new players and something with a strong crafting system and player run economy.

Ultima Online

World of Warcraft?
It almost could work on a Commodore! I dunno for the particuliar things you want, but WoW is the best tutorial of a MMO on the market. Once you try WoW, you taste most aspects and can figure for yourself what you like or dislike, like raiding, PvP, tradeskills...and so on.

But I dont have access to my powerful desktop for the next couple months because I am living overseas.
So all I ahve now is my Notebook that uses crappy intergrated video. I also dont want to play WoW and need a game that I can download for free.
Iv played SWG, DaoC and WoW.
I loved SWG pre NGE. WoW was great too...at first, then it became annoying. DaoC was borring.
How is the Ultima Online community, The game is really old, so I figured everyone there is a Vet.
I have tried WoW on an underpowered system and it ran reasonably ok apart from some disk thrashing, that was with everything at its lowest in general outdoor areas. The biggest problem occurs when you want to enter a major city like orgrimmar - its not pretty and can crash such a system due to the number of bored level 60s milling around.
I have to agree with the earlier posters UO is probably one of the least system-hungry games out there, theres a whole lot of game packed into UO if you don't mind the dated graphics. It is still a good game even if many of us hate the changes made by EA.
I also found it relatively easy to get Guild Wars to run on lower spec systems once you start lowering all the settings.
If you're into futuristic, Starport GE
Indeed, tho it needs 32 bit colors.
You also got conquer online, maplestory, Ultima Online and Dragon Raja.

"What happened to you, Star Wars Galaxies? You used to look like Leia. Not quite gold bikini Leia (more like bad-British-accent-and-cinnamon-bun-hair Leia), but still Leia nonetheless. Now you look like Chewbacca." - Computer Gaming World
All 3D games are on a flat 2D screen. So You'll be okay!
P.S I was worried to, at first!
