Yet another publication saying SWG is expected for console

So maybe SOE wasn't being dishonest. Maybe they are not putting it on console. Maybe they are only retarding SWG so hat it can be ran on console at some point.
Anyway, here is the info and sight:

Could we get a link ot the article? Reason I am asking is I have seen this before and the article was either very old or it was being reported from a european source that has since been discredited..

Speaking at a conference for game-industry programmers in San Jose, California Wednesday, a Sony executive said the company will more deeply integrate communications capabilities in games for the PS3, including the ability for users to videoconference over the Internet as they play games against each other, according to the report.
Users of the PS3 also will be able to purchase and download add-on content for games such as virtual weapons for a combat title or fresh vehicle designs for racing games.
Sony said the PS3 will allow users to download full games over the Internet to the console.
The announcement of Sony's online strategy comes a week after the company announced it will delay the introduction of the PS3 until November from the spring, citing holdups in the copy-protection system for the optical-disc format the PS3 will use to play movies and games.

IMO, PS3 will have Star Wars Galaxies, although I bet it'd probably be like EQOA.
There's great precedent for a console version of SWG, because the PS3 is looking forward to a really, really weak (and amazingly overvalued) launch. Some recent post-E3 polls and statistics are showing projections that the Wii about 50% of the US market, and the remaining 50% is split sorta evenly amongst the X360 and PS3. And it seems a majority of the PS3 purchasers are people who intend to buy several consoles (so we can logically presume they're either hardcore gamers or have good income), instead of purchasing it as one standalone package (ergo, casual gamers or low to medium income).
I still think SCE is in for some hard times, and that the whiplash will definitely affect SOE. It's going to be real interesting to see how all that plays out. I'm expecting quite a few heads to roll -- perhaps Mr. Smeagol's as well.

I do have a nice screenshot of an SOE forum page where Brenlo and TH both denounce SWG going to console. Yeah, gotta love the new communication lines they open with us.
I never stated it was SWG for PS3.. I merely poiinted out that in the article it states you could download full games from their "launchpad thingy" to your PS3.

Come on Obraik you wouldn't mind it going to the PS3 would you? Look on the bright side, server populations would increase and you'd be exhausted accepting all those new subscribers to your guild. More customers for your AS and they'd have to create new planets to handle the massive population surge.
Besides you've forgiven every other lie they ever told you, what's one more? I'm suprised SWG doesn't have players petitioning $OE for it to be put on the PS3!

Trouble is, the PS3 uses a different CPU architecture, which means that compiling code for the stupid thing is going to be a pain in the ass. Aside from the Blu-Ray drive, that's only the second piece of covert DRM being used with the PS3 -- and while Sony says that Cell architecture will be a quantum leap in performance applications (games), IMO all the cell is intended to do is keep games from being ported to other systems.
The bottom line is that Sony, the entire corporation, really NEEDS the PS3 to succeed and pick up a dominating market share, or they're going to be out millions, perhaps billions of dollars.

Marketing the PS3 to hardcore PC users is a mistake, in my opinion. The only way that a hardcore PC user would use the console would be if they used the keyboard/mouse with it. If you are using a keyboard/mouse, you need to set the console up on a desk (especially if you are going to do extensive typing). This defeats the biggest pull that consoles have, which is the ease of use and comfort of playing games in your living room.
I do agree that they are most likely trying to appeal to that market, I just think it is a mistake.
In my opinion, the biggest tool that they have to sell the console itself is to have an extensive array of games available for it. That was the biggest factor in the last console war and the PS2 was the winner in that (last I heard they had a 70% marketshare).
There are companies that are working on making the PS and PS2 games back compatible with the PS3 system.. SO I guess games will be available... I think the first round of relase for PS3 games will be aorund October... Just before the PS3 Launch in November.. Merry Christmas everyone.

No and that's why when it's argued, it should be done carefully. That given SOE's track record of being at best footloose with the facts, and all the stuff that is going on, the chances of it going to PS3 are incredibly high, and would be one of the most logical and simple explanations. (ockham's razor or however you spell it.)
