Oh yes, it is additing something to the MMO genre; The combat and skill system
I'll most likely give this a shot when it comes out, but they are going to have to answer 2 questions for me if I'm going ot play. First, I'd really prefer to play a class that emphasises ranged melee. I don't really see that happening in TCoS. 2nd, I'll never play a Human as a race in any game I'll ever play. With only 1 other plable race, and we don't even know what the davilis (sp) look like, they had better really appeal to me or I'll probably pass. Yes, Race can be a game breaker for me (personal preference).
I'm very excited about the game and will definitely be playing it. I haven't really followed a game in dev since DAoC and that was mostly peripherally. My husband was interested in it and I came around to his way of thinking. Enjoyed it for a while, but the grind and item hunts gets to me after a while. Played a bunch of other games since then (and a few before that) but they all basically have the same elements. That's why I think this game will be better. They're really changing things up and I'm hoping it will decrease the burnout factor. My favorite part of these types of games are the quests, as long as their interesting and make some kind of sense. Makes for much better immersion. Since that's where the xp in TCoS comes in, and with everything they've said about their quest system, it looks to be a huge step forward for MMORPGs and something I would enjoy a lot more.
Sure, will.. To be honested I was hoping Dark and Light would be good.. Bought it and played for 3seconds and told them I wanna REFUND.. the screenshot on that game are awesome but even books hide whats really inside the game..
I really like the look of this game and I am definitely planning on giving it a try.
It seems different from other MMORPGs. I also like the way the developers sound realistic and down to earth when describing their game features. Makes a nice variation to the all the usual hype going on with these type of games.
This, together with Hero's Journey, is one of the up-coming games I am most interested in.
i've been watching their website for about 6 months now and have been getting more and more xcited as time has gone on and they've released more info. i've been without an mmo ever since i cancelled my wow subscription 4 months ago, and honestly, no other game out there or in development right now really appeals to me. it would take an act of frightening proportions to keep me from playing open beta when it starts in september.
I'm following this game for about 4 months and really like it how the dev team is handling things. Most of all I'm looking forward for their lore-oriented gameplay and new fresh combat system.
I played Ryzom for a year and really liked the unique world and artwork plus the great community, but got really bored in the end by the lackluster combat system and the big role crafting/forage plays in the game.
So Spellborn with it's pretty unique and cool (at least on paper) combat systems and the lesser stress on crafting sounds like the perfect game for me!
Also, the Devs seem to have a pretty clear idea, what this game wants to achieve and what not and talk about it in a pretty open and straightforward manner. Relatively low amount of marketing fluff, which makes for a nice change.

Otherwise I like alot of what they are doing.

I just hope that I'll be accepted into beta soon.
