  I am not sure there is a good comparassion between SWG and DAOC, but I do know many players that have left SWG for DAOC.  DAOC is much less sandbox than SWG used to be, however the PvP is better than SWG.  You cannot detail your character's look such as the face as much, but you can customize the look substantially with different armor types, skins, and dyes. 
  
  One thing I will say regarding the trail.  It is hard to judge a game by only 14 days and you will be missing out the two best expansions with the trial - Catacombs and Darkness Rising.  So just keep that in mind when evaluating the game.

  Played SWG and DAoC, the latter since release. There really is no comparison in the two games, they are different genre's with completely different game play. DAoC biggest boon is the PvP, keep that in mind when doing your trial as well.

  I have played both DAOC-LVL 50 RR7 SCOUT ML 7

  And I have played SWG-lvl 80 Jedi

  I like DAOC better for a few reasons.

  First, you will not find a better PVP system than Daoc. If you liked base busting in SWG you love frontier RVR and the BGs. Not as complicated as SWG was but still fun as heck. I also like how you don't have to spend alot of time getting lvled up to do PVP. YOu can Pretty much do RVR from the get go, you just won;t get any RPs till you reach lvl 20.

  The expansions are great and with the new graphics upgrades the look of the game is one of the best looking MMOs out there. Keep in mind with the 14-day trial you will be using the old TOA graphics wich looks like the EQ graphics upgrade.

  The only downside with Daoc is that if you don;t know anyone who plays it, you'll have a hard time find people to play with you. But, with the instance adventures that will not be a problem.

  I solo lvled my Scount from 1 to 50 in about a week just doing instas and quest. Bear in mind that you will need to get the catacombs expansion to do this.

  All in all I prefer DAoC over SWG. The game is more stable and less prone to failure, also it just feels like a more content rinch enviroment that won't burn a hole in my hardware just by running it.

  last week I packed up my 2 year old SWG account and downloaded the 14 day free trial for DAOC. All i can tell ya is i havent been this excited  about playing a game since the pre cu days of the SWG. DAOC is awesome!
