Alright, heres the deal. Well over a year a go I quit playing FFXI (i had a lvl 60 DRK on Phoenix). I mainly quit because I got burnt out on farming and tryin to make money. I really enjoyed the friends I had in game and the community was like no other.
Now I could really see me getting back into it after a chat with a friend of who still plays. With the new expansion out and SE fixing a few of the things that really peeved me when I played. The new areas and jobs out make me consider it even more.
Now here is my question, would it be wise to get into the game again? I ask this because I wonder if there are still enough people coming into the game to make it easy to level at the lower levels. I'm fairly certain I could fly through the lower levels with the knowledge I have already gained. More than likely if I do come back I wont even reactivate my old account, I will just start fresh. I loved DRK so much I would probably start that job again, maybe a ranger though. So anyone think this is wise, and if so please state why. TIA

I think it's still a great game. There's certainly no lack of people levelling lower levels--just half an hour ago I teleported into the Valkurm Dunes outpost on my way to Selbina and there was a level 15 party right in front of me levelling up on gobs--in fact, one of them levelled to 15 as I started off to Selbina. Inflation has died down some so you may not find money as much of a problem; however IMHO money in FFXI has always been a matter of "work smarter, not harder." I garden, and have found that to be an excellent continuing source of money.

yeh i started up again and i got to lvl 4 in like an hour. i also had an old friend give me 10000 gil. i didnt even ask so money must be easy. if ur debating on going back id say yes. and with the new choco raisong update things will be interesting
Chocobo Breeding is enough to make me want to come back....
Maybe by Christmas...
I actually quit a bit back, too... but your post makes me consider rejoining.
Perhaps I should pick up black mage...
In any case, what appeals to me most about the game is the many class options available. It always keeps things a bit interesting.
I quit playing FFXI in October '05. I was just frustrated with the game. I had a lvl 70 DRK on Gilgamesh, being a DRK is rough to do. Not many people wanted a DRK in there party so invites were slow if they even came. Always had to farm for Gil because you HAD to have the best gear for your lvl.
I decided that I was done with the game and started playing WoW. That was eight months ago......all I can say is that I made a mistake. WoW just isn't as indepth is FF and it was just to simple.
Today I will reinstall FFXI and start playing the game again. I need to buy the new expantion still but at least I will be back in a game that is fun, detailed, and challenging. My only regret is that I won't be able to PvP anymore, I was never into Ballitza (spelling). There just something fun about killing a Night Elf and eating his corpse, gonna miss that
Peace out my fellow gamers and I hope to see you ingame soon.
