No one cares about this probably, but i'm about to cancel my subscription after having played SWG for 2 years.
This game used to be great. The Star Wars universe was balanced,
with very few jedi (onlyplayers who deserved it). I had a lot of
ingame friends.
The devs managed to simply kill this game: publish 9, CU and, finally, NGE, which is the dumbest initiative I ever witnessed.
Now, everyone is jedi. All players have the same abilities. My
ingame friends have all left. Player cities are empty, as well as
guilds. There is an average 800 players on Bria (largest server) on
Saturday night, including the spammers that is.
Plus (it's now confirmed) the game will be launched on PS3, which probably explains the above.
Nothing new there since everyone playing the game would agree that this game has been killed.
But still I wonder :
Star Wars is the easiest franchise that ever existed; anything can
be sold if starwars branded : toys, hamburgers, clothes and video
games, among others.
The Star Wars MMORPG was simply impossible to fail.
Still, the devs ruined it completely. I still dont know how they did it but its dead. I cant play it anymore.

I think you are giving waaay to muc credit to the Devs... Dont forget Smedly, Julio, Rogue_5 and the rest of the near sighted knee jerk reactionists lets turn this into World of Battle Field 2World.
SOE / LA are to blame for this.. not jsut the devs.

want your game back?
To the OP,
It took you THIS LONG to figure all this out and cancel?
btw tho, gratz on the cancelation
Well i assume you are talking about a long time ago even way before CU.
Truth is once the jedi route was known and there was no more perma debt or skill lose from death it was inevitable that jedis would over run the server.
Ofc now SoE has made it much easier but fact remains in any mmorpg if you put in a class thats considerably stronger then other classes the community will aim for it.
So if there was no CU or nge there will still be a server massively filled with jedis eventually and considering the amount i saw pre-cu even if that trend continued by end of 2006 i would imagine the jedi population would be higher then any other class.
SoE however just accelerated the process .

The last bastion of spamming threads with three-foot high, green "PRE-CU FTW!!!11" posts is telling me to stop trolling? Excuse me, one second... *giggles*
Now, back to your link -- if it worked, and you read it objectively, you'd see that it never states that SWG is going to the PS3. All the conspiracy theorists just jumped to their predetermined conclusions by inserting their own stories in between the lines.
Am I saying it won't happen? Not at all (even Pre-CU could easily have been put on PS2, it worked for Final Fantasy.) What I'm saying is that it doesn't get a stamp of "Truth!" to it until there is an official source that says, "You can buy Star Wars: Galaxies for your PS3." I have not seen any such statement yet.
Now, go practice what you preach.
