I estimate the resolution of the current screenshots is 800 x 600.....BF2 looked very similar to that (at the same resolution) and it wasn't very nice or clear for that fact. I think its for FPS and memory leak issues, the reason why the game looks the way it does. Because graphics are turned down to the absolute lowest for testing reasons.

Current resolution is locked at 1024x768. Naturally there will be options to change resolution.
Keep in mind that It is called Beta and not final, usely they will make it look cresper more to the release. I think it looks good if all else it could be for people with older systems who dont have the money for better computers. may I right or far off.

Perhaps you could tell me about why the graphics are the way they are and what they will be at launch, and save me the time of searching (especially since I am at work ).
At the moment, the graphics are the only thing keeping me from pre-ordering this game.
They want to have the interaction with hte world complete, graphics will be alot easier. As it has been said before, the graphics look like that because the quality is turned to low because it is beta
No, they're not, but they don't accept credit card payments, which sort of sets them apart from 99.999% of all other online retailers out there, but hey, if someone wants to be different...

Yup same here. In this day and age, the graphics should look better than EQ1 did in 1998. I don't care how small the company is. I'm not thinking about, "oh come on give them a break, it's a small company" when I'm trying in vain to immerse myself in a cardboard cutout world.
It's not gameplay > grahpics
It's gameplay should = graphics, not one or the other.
Well hopefully when this game does get released, and they actually use shadows and specular lighting it will look half way decent...but my god. Well...at least it will give ppl with 10 year old PCs something to do. Always have to look at the positives in life!

Don't judge a book by it's cover, Don't judge people by how they look and don't judge games by their graphics. I personally don't like uber-graphics in a game. Just makes it seem like it's replacing your actual life with a virtual one.
The graphics look fine and remember if you had a MMORPG/FPS which this one is btw that had Oblivion graphics the performance woudl degrade considerably. REgardless of how good the graphics can ever be I intend to keep them at the minimum level so I can get better fps during combat nad not have my computer slow down trying to load the petals on a lily growing beside us.

So you want people to ignore the obvious, the lack of quality graphics, and not to trust one's instincts, based on logical extension and experience, that the rest of the game is crap also?

The stock answer to that will be: "Oh, it's a free game, so why are you bitching?"
It's not entirely a free game. You do have to buy it up-front. Then there's the first impression thing...
Personally, I expect people that are not positive they want this game, and even those that are, to be good consumers. Do your research. Wait for reviews, wait for players you know to give you their opinions then base weather or not you're going to buy it off that. With anything I buy I always research, I don't expect our customers to do anything less.
Ok I guess it comes down to this some people want graphics, some gameplay, some both. We have been told these graphics are turned down for testing so it remains to be seen exactly what the world looks like. And htey at least show us real graphics I can't count how many games I've bought that had stellar graphics until I tried to run them on my computer at which point I had to turn the graphics down just so I could play the game. I havea 256 MB card and 1.5 gig of Ram etc... Granted not the top of the line system but neither do most consumers.
OF course I lean much more towards gameplay anyway as thats what I spend my time doing rather than looking at the graphcis so I am much more concerned with that end of the spectrum. Basically though do as Kanoth suggests. Wait till the game is out read some reviews look at final product screenshots if it matters and form your own opinion if you really don't like the graphics so much that you don't want to buy the game then don't buy the game thats your right as a consumer. Every product is designed for a certain consumer type or a collection of consumer types. No specific product was ever meant to appeal to the entirity of mankind.
well since the market is flooded by *nice graphics* fantasy dumbed versions of EQ/WoW with no deep gameplay except running around and doing quests, this game looks really promising to me, keep it up guys and dont let disturb yourselfs ... we all know u cant satisfy everyone
if you dont want to play a game because its graphics arent the best out then you probably missed alot of great games over the years.
besides if i wanted kiddy looking cartoon graphics i would just play wow. however, there are alot of us adults out here who prefer game play over graphics. the graphics are just a bonus. one of the best games i ever played was M59 ( a mud), AC1 DT and UO. all had crappy graphics but they had great game play, pvp, and polotics. something the "next gen" mmo's seem to have lost the concept of.
I have to agree the graphics are pretty unimpressive. I keep seeing people say that the graphics aren't "turned up" yet. Well, the game is a few weeks it's launch date, I guess we don't have much of a wait left to see if that is the case or not..... unless the launch is delayed.
I personally feel like they are going to run in to trouble with the graphics. Sure some people can overlook bad graphics as long as the gameplay is superb. But if it's just average, there are plenty of average games with good graphics. Might as well have both. I read a quote from someone saying they may not have the best graphics, but they do have content. I personally think that slavishly sticking to historical accuracy kind of limits the content. Everyone in the screens looks the same. Same sharp stick, same dirty burlap bag covering their low-poly bodies.

Check out UO 3d and then comment.
And I hope the gameplay is good, graphics are a nice bonus.
I don't know what to put here yet.
