When you look at today's article you see this beautiful woman, regular flesh showing, very beautiful, sexy armor.... you see this on EQ2 boxes and their videos. You see this on their ads, and what do you get when you go inside, It's like watching a Gumbee Show - little rubber globs of animated clay. The clothing??? they are like dressing in a discarded paper towel roll. Any definition of sex is all but removed. When I think of EQ I see the long blond haired, blue-green-eyed beauty, where more flesh than clothe shows.. you see her curves and slopes. I think if EQ wanted to do any kind of improvement that would shot their numbers up would be to get rid of the gumbee look.

You really are sad. I think you need to stop complaining about the character models not being good enough for you to bash off over and go out and get yourself a girl instead.

Always the juvenile that has to make a wisecrack to feel their inner childish glee.
Having good models for characters adds to appeal and easier for a person to roleplay. Apparently Sony knows what is appealing or they would not use well defined great looking models on their box covers and ads than in the game. Why they use lumpy like clay modeling, I don't know. And yeah, sure, having great looking models for characters is more appealing. It engenders role relationships. Though, most of the girls in games are probably guys playing them, or a good percent... because as one guy said, "I play her because I love looking at her." Look at Tomb Raider..... Lora Croft's appeal... their commerical is, showing empty bathrooms and ballparks with, "Where are the boys?"
Having a great online RP game with great models of both sexes will be appealing to everyone. You don't have to be girlfriend or boyfriend, but if a guy wants to be a warrior type, he would like to envision himself as strong and muscular - maybe a Conan type versus a fat, doughy, ugly facial featured character with a weird hair-do like a Fred Flinstone or a whimpy looking elf that reminds you of Pee-Wee Herman.
So you can take my thoughts and use juvenile comments and pervert it. When we read your remarks , the serious people in the forums, just roll their eyes and and think, what an idiot - maybe his mother will catch him online and send him to his room. It's not entertaining. It's not funny. And if your motive is to upset the person that made a post, you failed. In fact, the owners of the forum frown upon juvenile remarks as all serious forum writers do and continual banter of such will have you banned.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Well to be fair, your first post made you sound like a hormanal kid complaining about the female character model not being as sexy in game as it was in the picture and that is exactly what you where doing.
How do you know what other people think when they read my comments, or anyone elses for that matter, are you psychic, I think not.
Maybe my mother will catch me and send me to my room, i doubt that as i am already in my room on this pc and just by using a remark that includes my mother in it shows how imature you really are.
"Its not entertaining. Its not funny"
No. It was.
"If your motive was to upset the person that made the post, you failed"
Well i wasnt aiming to upset at all, but i quite obviously didnt fail to upset you otherwise you wouldnt have gone on about my post so much with your last post. Oh and stop talking in third person.

I'v been on these forums for quite some time now so dont try and tell me how they work. Again you try to act like you know what other people think (the "owners" in this case) when you quite obviously dont.
Thanks for the fun reply.

You must really hate books, you know with all those words and no pictures for immersion. Do you no longer watch a movie that is showing its special effects age?
If your character model is destroying imemrsion for you then I can't imagine what all the OOC chat will do to ya.
Regarding the original point of this thread, most game advertisers will produce a high-end video of the game with movie-like cinematography. It will dazzle and amaze everyone, and that is the bait.
Even in WoW, when watching one of the original game trailers, you see highly rendered scenes, details, battles, effects. That is the bait.
Knowing this, the question to always ask, and the big question at all the game conventions when a new one is displayed, "Is that actual gameplay footage?" If so, you better go buy stock in that company. If not, look for actual gameplay footage or screenshots to get the definative answer.

My recollection of the WoW video is that it was quite representative of how the characters looked ingame.
The dwarf hunter and his bear pet set near the dwarven city in the snow was spot on how it looks in-game.
The human male caster was battling another caster with a summoned being and I have seen those high end summoned beings, they look similar.
The female elf fighting I think either a Tauren or Orc, those were fairly accurate character representations and settings also.

If your comparing the WoW opening cinematic to the actual games graphics then thats insane, the OP is trying to say that the in game character graphics are never like they show them on videos and most the time they arnt. How can you even say the opening cinematic for WoW looks like the in game graphics lol, they may be wearing similar cloathing and be represented in a similar way, but the graphics in the cinematic are by far better than the actual in game graphics.

Where is this video/ad?I know i seen the video which was the beginning cinematics of EQ2 which yes is not the same. But hey in the UK on a gaming program WoW ad showed the opening cinematics with the dwarf hunter in snow and the bear! and i am sure no one would even dare say they looked even slightly the same.
Its bait and many gaming companies us it.

Not only did they show a highly rendered dwarf and bear, but it was SNOWING!!!!
They just now added snow and weather to WoW. Is that false advertisement too.

Also, re the puttylike, lumpen characters. What have you got your graphics settings on? I find that I get a decent render when I manage to get a good balance between detail and speed.
(Of course, next time I log in and the server is busy I need to degrade gfx settings and end up with people with no faces, etc )

So, you all sat in camps and that was fun?

What you are trying to discuss is the art-direction is not the same ingame as in the ads, blame the advertising agency/department for that.
I kind of doubt its the first time ever in your life that you buy a product solely because of an ad & become dissapointed (check out tv-shop or similar advertising to get really angry).
As long as screenshots are available, and the words "artist rendition" are on the box somewhere it is the consumers not educating themselves. It is quite obvious that no computer can render something equal to the drawn art in game, so assuming those are the graphics is silly. No one even questioned if the package art was the in game art on the 2600, Master System, and lets not forget NES.
And BTW, no FF has ever been fined. Square has always offered screenshots on their packaging and those who ignore those are suffering from their own inability to flip a package over.
EQ2 characters models range from pretty damn good to pretty damn bad.
The pretty damn good:
Kerran, Troll, Ratonga, Halfling, High Elf female, Barbarian male, Iksar
The average:
Dwarf, Froglok (as good as a humanoid frog can look), Wood Elf ( a meh model at best), Gnome, Barbarian female, Half elf, Erudite (close to being really good, just a bit off)
The pretty damn bad:
Ogre, Human (holy cow, are we this ugly?), High Elf male (transvestite with too much plastic surgery), Dark Elf
The EQ2 art team did a great job on the humanoid models, Iksar, Kerran, Troll, etc., but dropped the ball badly on the human-like races. The cross-eyed females, the comb-over hairstyle for human men, Dark Elves as a whole look bad, really badly designed. This is a microcosm of what plagues EQ2, they get half of a portion of the game right, then they butcher the other half of that portion.
I play with extreme graphics settings. I play a human cleric. I was just commenting to my girl the other day who plays a human pally that they really have a horrid flesh graphic for humans. We look like rubber. The rest of the world looks amazing though
Make a difference!
As far as I know only one Red-Alert expansion box got remade/recalled because it had the twin towers in fire in the background (9/11 was the reason).
