Look barry and slice, first I said i have FRIENDS that can hack ppl with a blink of an eye, and I am not a legend, I just played for a long time, but i didn't kill myself playing 12 hours a day like those nerds.

Well, that's because of some of the dishonest players on RuneScape. People who break the rules are ruining the game. It's not JAGeX's fault. Remember, report all rule breakers do you can stop them from doing this.

After reading this entire thread I'm confused. I was told the Runescape community was full of nothing but 12 year old l33t kids. I'm just not seeing it...huh.

I decided to give runescape a go after getting burnt out on almost every MMO game out there, I thought it might burn some time while waiting for AoC or maybe Vanguard to come out (if SOE don't screw that up like everything else ). Plus its a game I never tried before and I was wondering if all the bad publicity people gave it was true.

I paid for 1 month of full membership to make sure I was not getting a false view of the game due to some content being blocked out. After 1 week I have quit (I have no clue how I stuck it out so long).

I have never in my life witnessed so many f**kwits on one game at the same time, the graphics suck, the sound could drive you mad, many skills are boring to grind, the combat is utter s**t - in short this game has NO redeeming qualities. I made combat level 20 while trying the game, bought a house and got some tradeskills up to 2nd tier items, so I did in fact give this a fair go. Anyone who pays for this after being ripped off for the first payment needs some serious psychiatric help.

My favourite RS retard has to be the guy who saw me arrive at Lumbridge after leaving the tutorial place and continued to follow me around calling me a n00b and killing eveything in sight I might attempt to attack - this guy was showing as level 66, he definitely makes starting out on the game fun, he is also typical of many of the people playing this game.

In short I fail to see how this game was good enough in the first place for people to says its 'ruined' now.

Erm,Runescape getting ruined? It was ruined long ago when the f**kwits started playing it. Bar that,gameplay-wise Runescape had a lot to offer. Well,I liked its skill levelling system anyway. I've tried to like RS on 3 occasions. Nope, too many f**kwits and lack of communication. It's funny but not when you actually wanna do something serious.

Give Runescape 3D,remove the f**kwits with P2P and Jagex will have something divine. Until then,Runescape is like an introduction to MMO's for younger people, imo.

First off: Quit using "gay" as a negative term. I want that word out of the 4letter list, and I want it badly.

And if anybody is unclear on what one shouldn't be talking about here, it is the hacking of accounts. That's illegal. On mmorpg.com you don't offer or request illegal services, or otherwise promote illegal activities.

Lastly, Runescape hasn't been good for as long as I've played it, but as long as you pay nothing at all it could possibly be worth the time - time you need to kill. I could use it to disconnect from more engaging and less tedious pastimes (being mentally active at all times is potentially exhausting, really).

I simply don't need to pay to get more relaxing boredom, I can make do with what they offer. (Haven't played it since don't rememer when, though).

Default size fonts are very nice.

Losing gear upon death? Well... I'd say that's a good thing, but only if you think dying should matter at all. If what you want is to acquire and advance without ever facing a single setback, then death/losing items is obviously negative. But it's nothing obvious.

    ...

Do you (to the one who suggested the baby dragons) believe that you are the only one to post suggestions to Runescape staff? I believe they have a rather large playerbase, and many among them would have requests and ideas. An automated confirmation is nothing out of the ordinary. Manual response would be neat, but it is not really ... useful. You got your dragons, and their arrival should be answer enough?

    The future: Adellion
Common flaw in MMORPGs: The ability to die casually
Advantages of Adellion: Dynamic world (affected by its inhabitants)
Player-driven world (beasts won't be an endless supply of mighty swords, gold will come from mines, not dragonly dens)
Player-driven world (Leadership is the privilege of a player, not an npc)

Runescape has always been full of kids and highly materialistic.  However, it used to be fun in many ways too.  Simple 2d graphics were easy to navigate, and while not terribly beautiful, they were very clear and direct.  Many players were immature, but they were often willing to calm down and act half-mature for anyone who'd bother to teach them something.  Nobody was level 99 in anything, many items were rare but obtainable, and "tell player xxx" would actually work as an instant whisper to anyone, which made private trading easier.

Combat was never any good, but tradeskills were decent, if a bit repetitious.  Quests were good to teach people the basics, encourage exploration, and just be fun.

The community grew too large, and it was just easier to whine and beg for stuff than to learn and make it on your own.  It used to be that individual work was worthwhile, having a strong teacher was helpful, and it was worth the time and effort to take on apprentices for the social aspect.

Still, the materialism was obvious.  They put in the dragon quest, everyone wanted a runite plate so badly.  Of course, it was just as profitable to wait for someone to take on the dragon and fail horribly, so you could take the stuff they dropped.  Playing as a member was fun, nice and sparse population.  But, most members were pros, so things were a bit more competitive, materialistic, and head to head.  PVP became tainted with nothing but pure PKs fit just to kill anyone they could find.  Wilderness wasn't just harsh, it was dangerous to even walk in with more than three pieces of gear.

I suppose half-hearted play and lack of interest in becoming 99 at everything was killing the game for me, but it was definitely 3d that left me never coming back.  Pity, Runescape was a fun distraction sometimes, but perhaps it was just fated to end like that.

Runescape has a decent size subscription base and I'm sure many people enjoy the game.  You can play for free, however, and you'll get a lot of kids with a game that requires no credit card.  Sometimes kids are going to act like kids... what can you do?  There are plenty, however, that you must give credit to for the mature manner in which they conduct themselves.  YAY, GOOD KIDS!  At least there are games that kids and those restricted by operating system or lack of credit card, can play.  I don't know that there is much you can do about certain elements of a community.  If you find that you can't tolerate it or that it's ruining your gaming experience, the only solution is to leave and find another game.  Unfortunately, you can't control the behaviour of other people so you have to either find a way to deal with it or move on.

I quit Runescape about a month ago. It was a lot better when they has simple 2-d graphics, when party hats were still cheap, when dueling was still fun. They are trying to add too much stuff to it now and it is overwhelming. PKins sucks now, unlike back in the day when you could try to "catch" somebody.

I couldn't agree more runescape sucks now, the best thing in runescape was pking, and it was ruined in the newer version of runescape.
