WAR will definitely be good and their staff frequently posts on these forums as well as fan sites. They definitely care about their fans and will bring us one of the best RvR (PvP) experiences yet with I believe 4 different ways to RvR with only one of those being instanced. The rest is real-world real-time global war.

WAR, since Warcraft is very much a copy of warhammer anyway... and warhammer kicks ass.

Warhammer is the most similar to it, but honestly, we don't know much about it since it is a late 2007 - early 2008 game.  I'm trying not to even think about it since it is more than 2 years away.

I think AoC, Gods & Heroes, and Tabula Rasa will be the most successful new releases from the batch I saw at E3.  Whoever voted Vanguard is in for a nasty and sad surprise once they spend their $50.  Find a way to get into the beta before you purchase that tripe!

Actually I heard that Warhammer was planned for a Q2-3 '07 release (not 100% sure so don't quote me), but definitey within 07. Also it won't be very similar to World of Warcraft unless you find similarities in the graphics. However the gameplay will be (thankfully) very different.

But I must agree that Vanguard will most likely flop but I see promise in the other MMOs listed.

I predict a dilution across many games but if there was a single mmorpg that blizzard should worry about its WAR.

Similar theme, similiar art(though more detailed ) and the biggest killer is the promised pvp since this is one of the areas blizzard failed miserably in WoW.

And maybe they should be worried because mythic has good experience with pvp now and stand a good chance of proving a fun non repeatative pvp system.

Other posible contenders are ofc AoC.Maybe vanguard since it has a huge following among the veteran mmorpg gamers.

Possibly LoTR because hey its lord of the rings.

I honestly do not see G&H denting much market as yes E3 gave it thumbs up.But so did E3 do last year for AA and still struggling on very low server population despite i can't find anything bad to say about the game and word of mouth is good.

Its too unknown to make any sort of major impact sadly.

I voted WAR, but only if they really, really make the PVP good.  That is the sole and vital factor.

However, it isn't the only one that could pull it off.  I just think it's got the best chances.  Hell, WOW could still beat them all out and stay on top.

AoC and G&H are the games I'm watching.

I vote Lord of the rings online. imo, its one of the few franchise that has a chance against the Warcraft name, and from the information that has been released so far, including gameplay movies, it seems to be VERY similair to World of warcraft. all the other titles simply don't have a chance to take something out of the WoW subscriber base that blizzard will notice. some of them have big names as well, but honnestly, ask a warcraft player what Warhammer is and over 80% will respond: "Huh?"

My LOTRO story from E3 2006:

Me: Beyond having the LOTR license, what does this game do that is new or interesting?

    LOTRO demoer: . . . . .

Me:  Not that the LOTR license isn't impressive. . .

LOTRO demoer:  Oh, you can look off into the distance and if you see something there you can actually go to it.

Me:  Okay.  Yeah Asheron's Call did that. . .   but there world design was really bad.  Will you be building the world so it flows more logically from low level areas to high level ones?

    LOTRO demoer:  Yes.

This is where I walk off because I started to feel uncomfortable.  Even though I was there as press and thus in a capacity where I should be asking difficult questions, I felt like I was making the demoer uncomfortable and that made ME uncomfortable.  I honestly wish that I'd gone back and spoken to someone else.  My impression is that it is a pretty, but derivative MMO that uses a well-known license and may have moderate success based on minimum competence (making a good, if derivative, game) and an excellent license.

That is probalby the smartest move to make with a successful intellectual property.  There is no reason to reinvent the wheel if you have an excellent license.  You might screw up terribly and end up squandering a "fool-proof" license like SWG did.

Warhammer is defently going to get everyone from WoW.Especially if it has lots of pvp. plus everyone is getting ready for something better than WoW and will jump at the chance of something better imo..

    me included

  • If they don't pull the "adult content" from AoC, I can see many people being drawn to that. Mutilation and nudity could be a refreshing breeze from WoW's much softer image. Also, the promise of intense real-time combat is. personally, very appealing. If all goes well, I could see myself playing it when the time comes. It's probably too early in the game's development to be betting on anything, though. >;/

Edit: And yes, WoW's easy leveling and lack of endgame really has some folks itching to get out. It's ripe for harvesting.

I voted Warhammer... While I think AOC will absoluty be the best game on the market for a few years, too many people are all over Warhammer's sack... And as in real life the most popular is not always the best.

WAR and Tabula Rasa will take imo at least a forth of the WoW player base the first year.

I've heard many good things about WAR and Tabula, and hopefully they'll turn out as good as people say they will.

Also I say a forth because many players by then will be tired of WoW most likely and might want to explore more MMORPG's.  Tabula Rasa will most likely appeal to fans of Sci-Fi that like MMORPG's but dislike a Fantasy story and prefer the Sci-Fi base.

WAR will take the most of the WoW playerbase.

Feels like that game will be WoW 2.0 ( the intended version)

I myself will play Vanguard, but i dont see many WoW players playing that game.

Warhammer will take over WoW weak spotsand make it better....3 CHEERS FOR BETTER GAMES ..i will also moveto warhammer ( unless WoW DO SOMETHING THAT ANREALLY KEEP US IN THAT GAME!!!!)

This isn't even fair, the entire warcraft series ripped off warhammer, now they're looking to outdo Blizz, and from the looks of it they just might.

    If (WAR) = ((WoW - Raids) + Meaningful PvP), THEN (WAR) > (WoW);

Greyface that is the best equation ever.

Voted War, has followed this games for months now. I have played wow for about a year and found it fun to lvl your char, but actually the end game is boring. Hopefully war will be more fun and rewarding :)

Warhammer will for sure steal most of WoW player base, as Warhammer is doing PvP right. Instanced PvP is pointless and ruins any point to PvP if there is any. Without a good risk/reward system for PvP, it is going to be pointless as well. There is zero risk in the honor grind for WoW, but plenty of reward. If you ranked based on kill - death ratios, overall honor, overall wins, maybe assessments of the teams you played. So many ways to make it complex enough that you actually have to be good to rank, not just PvP 16 hours a day for 2 months.

Vanguard looks good, I won't give into either games till I can play them, while I don't think Vanguard is ordinary at all like, zakk_ said, it definitely looks like it may be a grind fest. Who knows, I think it resembles SWG's complexity as far as the resource collection, possibility of GOOD crafting, and good looking in game.
