Might Buy

Do yout hink I should buy this game? I posted over in "The Pub", and some people said it was really fun, but took forever to level. They also said to cope with the other people I would have to buy Adena and use bots and stuff, but I don't want to do this. So, what do you think? Should I buy it? I like to both group and solo. I also love PvP. I don't like to be FORCED to group, I like to be able to group but if I can't get a group go solo instead.

P.S. If I do get it, I'm going to be a Shillien Oracle > Shillien Elder > Shillien Saint. Are they good?

No it doesnt take forever to level.  Buying adena is common.  No, you do not have to use bot programs.  End Transmission

Hell I had to three box to get anywhere in EQ, don't see this as a whole lot different. Bet they have less bugs though then stupid old EQ.

If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)

I would be more concered over whether you will actually like the playstyle (open PvP, long grind and tough economy) before you concern yourself with what cheats other people are using - matter what game you deside to play.

You don't need to use a bot any more in L2 then in any other game. You don't need to buy Adena anymore then you do in any other game. No one forces you to do it anymore then in WoW which is the biggest gold buying market of any MMO. It is also the easiest economy of any MMO. You need to have a serious lack of attention NOT to be able to make money hand over fist in WoW but the game is infested with farmers regardless and people buy gold by the ton in WoW.

L2 has a very tough economy so you need to mentally prepare yourself to deal with it. You will NOT be able to survive off what you make hunting alone. You will need to become part merchant. Thats why most North Americans fail at this game. They focus strickly on the hunting/leveling and run out of money then boo - hoo it. L2 is also a completely player run economy so don't expect any hand-outs. its economic dog eat dog. You may know your class and be a fast leveler but if you cant make money you will not survive in L2.

You could probably make it to level 35 or 40 without learning or using the economy but after that only the people who have mastered the economy will make it any further. (or the cheaters)

The group / solo should suit you. Most classes can solo pretty far. At higher levels you might need to group depending on the class you choose. (I understand the Shillen class can pretty much solo to cap, don't quote me on that) Its not designed like FFXI or D&DO with forced grouping. You can do pretty well soloing regularly. The group dynamic works out pretty well most of the time also. Of course you will need to group for raids and such. For the most part the gameplay is pretty balanced. You can solo and group easily. Other MMO's should take a look at how L2 works rather then force players into one role or another.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the economy. In example, on my server varnish is going for 1.5k a pop in buy stores. It's not hard to spoil varnish OR use the manor system and get back 10x the profit you invested. If you have good knowledge of the game you can easily make 5 mil in adena alone by the time you are level 20.

If you go Shillien Oracle etc you will have to group. They are good buffers and great for pve leveling but the worst healers for pvp. You don't need to bot or buy adena either. I leveled from 1-75 w/o botting and never bought any ingame money. When I was leveling, adena and xp were much harder to get than they are now. My situation isn't uncommon. However, I will not deny that botting and buying adena will save you a lot of trouble and make things much easier for you.

just bot if you rly don't want to grind, its not that big of a deal. IMO, if u can bot to 75 or even 70...u deserve it. Every1 cheats in that game, and no1 plays it for PvE anwayz so just relax and do w/e. On a side note, its probably the best MMO. The economy is only hard to figure out if you are a complete idiot OR u don't have a friend whose a dorf to tell you wat mats are going for. (so i recommend one of those)

your first 20 lvls will be a little on the hard side being new to the game. Once you get into D-Grade armor and weps, and grind at places like the Abandoned Camp or some of the lizard dwellings you will be very self sufficient for a while and you will start generating positive income. It's daunting at first but once you go graded it becomes a lot easier. Patience will help out a lot in the beginning.

I made a ton of money off of assorted enchants. It takes time and you will more then likely need to start out selling D grade armor enchants BUT you work your way up from there. If you shopped you could usually get some at about 25-35k each and then resell at 50-60k each. Get in on some good deals with high level guildies who have no need to low level enchants they come across and you are in some serious business.

I could make a few million easily doing this. Especially with B grades weapon enchants. I could get them for 300k each from some of the people I knew and resell them for 650k. Sweet deal there. If I sold 4 or 5 a week, I could rake in over 1.4 million in profit. I usually ran out before demand let up. And I only dabbled in the economy!!!! I knew many hard core merchant types who made me look like a begger in the street.

The best part is this.....everyone NEEDS enchants, you cant go wrong.

(I have just revieled my secret of success in the L2 economy to you, is it the only way? Hell NO! You can make money selling almost anything, it just takes time, pulling a few million in one week feels great, much better then ganking some noob or jackass. If you can master the L2 economy, you have true power. You can make money where so few can. Any nit wit can grind on A.I. mobs and bitch about it in any game.....I had a full set of C grade weapons and armor at level 35 waiting in my vault for me while others couldn't even get the cash together for a D grade weapon upgrade.)

    EDIT

If you cant make money in L2 there are a few reasons.

    1) You are not taking the time to learn and use the economy. People focused on leveling alone fall into this one. L2 has three very destinct parts. Player v Player, Player v Evironment and Player vs Economy. If you fail at any one of those you will probably fail in L2.

    2) you don't understand the economy and are afraid to ask. People in L2 don't bite but don't hand out info either. You are going to need to make friends and get into the community.

    3) you are expecting it to be easy and not changing your view and bitching about it when its not. Players don't adapt to the required skill levels and fail in the game because of it.

    4) Just not trying and bitching about it. WoW syndrome. Players expect to be handed everything and cry all the way home when they realize they have to figure something out on their own.

Sounds like I'm gonna get this game. But what class? I dont want to be forced to group like that one guy said a Shillien Oracle had to. I want to be a needed class such as a healer, but I also want to be able to solo. Can you list of some needed classes, what they do, and how they are forced to level (solo, grouping, etc)?

  • SantaClaws48SantaClaws48 Member Posts: 280
A spell howler doesn't need groups is a very strong solo class. Of course they do better with a towed SE but that's another story. Wanted in groups? Not wanted like something as a healer or buffer class, but people will take them if they need a DD.
