The game looks very promising. i hope that it is good becasue we are over do for a good MMO, the graphics arent the best but UOs werent either. the only thing that really got me questioning the game is thecusifiction screen shots. its not making me not want the game. but other people might not take it so lightly. yes it did happen but its not really a good selling strategy. even tho it happen to many people of that time, its still a religous symbol. and since you are a small devolop watch out for ammo that you give them.

    I haven't heard much out of those playing the game (due to the loose NDA). I'm hoping everything is going well with this project and it will be ready in July.

    What do you mean watch out? Controversy over the crucifixions would probably be a dream come true for them, free advertising and a massive flood of customers who otherwise may not have heard of the game. It's not like The Christian Coalition runs the internet, what bad could come of a little controversy? The most any of those wackos could do is boycott the game, and imagine what damage THAT would do to it's player base.

    theres nothing special about crucifixtion, it was a common punishment back then and this a game aiming to reinact what it was like back then.

    It's unfortunate that some people will take the use of crucifixion in game as an attack on anyone.  As was said above, we are trying to be as historically authentic as possible.  Crucifixion was a very harsh capital punishment and in game, it'll only be used in situations where players are banned. 

    I hope people can understand that, but there will still be those who are offended, and that is their right.

    You just got done saying on the RV boards that prostitution will not be in RV Sorry. No such thing in this game. We must remember it is a game.

    Authentic as possible or as authentic enough as not to get the game banned outright in places? ::::30::

      There will however be nudity when it comes to art.  As we all know, statues and moseics in Rome often depicted nudity.  There's a fine line there.  The Brothels themselves may be in, but they wont be "useable".

    joking aside, what in the world would be the point of prostitution in the game?? To keep the 13 yearolds occupied? Would there be a special skill involved? "W00t! I maxed out ****ing!" As for historical accuracy, people were born retarded back then, why the hell earnt they including that? "Were very sorry, but you're character has an IQ of 50 and just sits in a corner and hits himself in the head, have fun!" Historical fact, but wouldn't add much value to the game.

    But being a pimp still implies that other players would be willing to spend their money on a feature out of which they don't really get anything save 1 minute of amusement the first time they do it. Why would anyone go back and spend more money after having seen it once? What value would a pimp character add to the game? They wouldn't be providing any kind of real service since there really isnt anything within the context of the game that can be gained by something like simulated sex.

    No, I don't seriously expect pimping and whoring to be in RV - both were big business in Rome obviously, but not in this game. Not even remotely a serious proposal.

    What would you even do in this game can anyone help me out? Can you like join the roman army or anything..will their be combat....gladiators...help me out here

    I sure cant wait till July, im going to EBgames and seeing if I can preorder my copy or something so i am guranteed to be playing at launch. Wow I cant wait!

    They may look at you funny, RV is download only innitially.  We dont have the funds to put out a box.  Though it would be nice to release one later on, and we most likely will.  I'd like to see a box without the game, and a box with the game.  The one without would have the manual and maybe a map, etc and of course be cheaper, this would allow those who want the whole shabang to do so.

    But that's just me.
