That would be sooooo fun!!..Funny thing is i haven't played Pokemon in years..i used to play it so much that when i wasn't playing i could still here the background music playing..lol..

..jus wanted to see how many people would play a Pokemon mmorpg..i think it'd be a pretty kool game

You know I think I would actually play that, im almost 21 years old and I still like Pokemon, I have Emerald for my DS. But it wont happen, Nintendo is to smart to dip into the MMO business.

The Pokemon gameplay system wouldn't lend itself well to the MMO genre. That, and MMOs are difficult to keep under control, and Nintendo treasures its kid-safe image. It was only recently that mature-rated games were allowed on Nintendo systems, and even that's toed the line.

Still, it'd be a nifty concept.

Well if not Pokemon itself..then maybe a game similar to it..tweak a few things and a game based off of pokemon could be cool..i kno some have tried..well kind of..like monster and me...but if nintendo gave permision for some kinda of pokemon spin off..that game would be kool..

Nintendo has the brains to do it of course. But thats not what would stop them. Im a Nintendo fanboi, no reason to deny it, and im preety postive Nintendo would rather keep things the way they are, having Pokemon good all around games for all ages and VERY good sellers, than make an MMO out of it and risk it not doing well, and gets shit on 24/7 by other MMO players and the like, and possibly ruining the Pokemon franchise. Ride the wave as long as it keeps going, dont break it on purpose.

Pokemon is kinda designed for an mmorpg. I would play it, for sure.

Btw: There were plenty of adult games on the nintendo consoles, and there are coming more as soon as Wii launches. Resident Evil and Red Steel are just 2 of them.

The original pokemon games were brilliant...

I really don't know why they get so much bad publicity, that world would indeed lend itself very well to a pvp mmopg.

I would much much rather play that than another EQ clone...

Again bad publicity for pokemon has lead thousands of people to instantly hate it... I remember when I loved pokemon( was a kid of course ). Then I hated it because of its kiddy image and me trying to escape that image. Now I see it as a great game and would love to play another one if they changed around the gameplay a little bit and made it more exciting or something, but back to my point a good number of people hate pokemon for the wrong reasons....

I think if they made a pokemon MMO it would have to have combat that is more real time... Like you run around as your avatar and once you see a enemy you throw out the pokemon that you want. Maybe allow higher lvl players throw out more then one and more as your progress. It could be really cool......

I would love to see a pokemon game created. It would be awesome if they made it just like the movies and stuff i used to watch when i was a kid.. like you could roam around and find a pokemon walking around.. NOT THAT GAMEBOY CRAP. But like the pokemon show on cartoonnetwork( man i need to watch that again)

like if you wanted too you could bring out your pokemon to hang out with you and stuff and you could join team rocket if you wanted to or you could be on the good side.. and if you wanted to you could become a gym leader and stuff and do all sorts of cool stuff!! man im fanatsying about this game already lol!! SOMEONE MAKE THIS GAME NOW!!! AND MAKE IT GOOD!! I love this idea it sounds soo cool

Actually there is a Malaysian MMORPG with the same concept: You capturing a monster, train it, and it will fight for you. Too bad the game has so many flaws to be truly enjoyable. The name was Pets & Me or something..

My sons would play a pokemon mmo day and night, for that reason alone they should not make one. There is good news thou , Pokemon is owned by Nitendo so SOE would not even have the right to say its name.

Actually, I've been saying this same thing for years as well. Would I personally play a Pokemon MMO? No, I wouldn't. But I do think it lends itself uncommonly well to the MMO genre, and I think Nintendo is a collective fool for not milking this earlier back near the height of the brand.

I can make the distinction between what *I* want to play, and what I think would make a decent MMO and would be good for the genre. Then again, I'm one of those rare people that thinks that the world doesn't necessarily revolve around me. ::::01::

I can't help but think back to a post I made a year or so ago over on the VN Boards (http://vnboards.ign.com/Message.aspx?topic=82549516&brd=22584). The gist of the post: What if you took only *two* of the bartle indicators, and put them together to make a game. What would they look like. Right under Achiever/Killer is where I put Pokemon. I suppose if done properly, there would be some social and exploring aspects (if heavy questing and seeking rare pokemon is part of it). But the vast majority of the game would be achieving (advancing, training, collecting, and evolving your pokemon) and killing (PvP arena, contests, and agreed upon matches: all with updated stats and world rankings).

A sub theme of this topic is the issue of pets in online games, which just hasn't become nearly as advanced as it could. Remember the Tamagotchi eggs from Japan in the mid-90s? What if pets in MMOs were more like that instead of just an item in your backpack next to your sword? What if you found that wolf as a cub and had to raise him up, watching as he grew bigger and stronger. What if things that happened to the wolf in his life actually affected him in certain ways?

One way to give that whole area a kick-start would be to make an ENTIRE MMORPG completely about pets in the first place: Sounds like Pokemon to me. ::::02::
