i think blizzard wanted to go this way, and now they get to take everything this way.
i think the fact that vivendi is a corporation whose goal is to make.... money... that there's a 99.4% chance world of starcraft and diablo will happen eventually.
plus... they're probably going to be really really good games=) considering blizzards experience in the genre.

blizzard was supposed to implement hero classes as an update months and months ago.
hero classes, not level 70 w/ expansion purchase.
as someone who played wow in beta and followed the news, blizzard hasnt fulfilled any of it's promises about anything.
thus i doubt it would be possible to keep the wow servers online if they took any more support away.
likely, people would still pay. even if the servers went off for months at a time.

they give parents and kiddies a /smile, because it's far easier and reassuring for someone to give you a /smile instead of fix bugs/lag.

still, i think from a financial perspective, it's a sure bet blizzards next game will be an mmo.
really, i do think the success of wow was the reason they didnt implement anything, guess that love is going into world of starcraft, which, i think is a way cooler universe.

i'ld like to paid nukes with ghosts... and do all of that. and paint nukes. and shoot the plane. plan crashes on face.
from 3rd person... battlefield, but with more players so it's huge
it'd be a pretty massive undertaking, you'd need real time physics systems to recreate sc in the least, and you'd need multiple control schemes if you are to play as the zerg protoss and terran...
hard... to balance =0. in wow, both sides are really the exact same in every way, except for looks.
i suppose thats what i detest most about wow, the sameness, so i guess it's all in my favor anyway.

A good MMO FPS in Starcraft world has potential...
Planetside is a good premise but a decent at best game. Now a good MMO FPS could be real fun. Especially if they focused on small squad groupings of players for goals, like assualt squads etc.
that would be ideal, but would blizzard risk that?
i'd really love to see an mmo... that is more 'surprisetacular'

i mean, one where getting new skills gives you more weapons, upgrades etc, but doesnt make you invincible.
a game that requires you to be 'skillin' all the time...
for example, a tank should be able to easily kill and infantry unit with a shot no matter what the level or skill difference.
i think you get my point....
i didnt really expect they'd do one, i mean an fps is pretty much a more twitch based game in it'elf, and that might alienate their current wow base.
but then again, it could attract a whole new type of player.... since they've already got wow for older players to stay with.
i suppose being in first person makes squad based combat more necessary, covering each others asses and stuff.

Warcraft 1 was the release of the cancelled Warhammer RTS. There was even a demo edition shipped with copies of White Dwarf on 3.5" floppies.

We have spaceships. If any other companies decides to put spaceships in their game, they are stealing. It's like the incident with Unreal and Quake 2, where the Unreal devs accused of stealing from them, simply because Quake 2 contained a bald man and a woman with a pony tail.
If you know the whole starcraft history and universe and the whole warcraft history and universe, you would see that they differ ALOT of Warhammers.
I know what you think though:
Terran = Space Marine
Tau or eldar = Protoss
Tyranid = Zerg
Some of them do look a like. But it's common in Sci-fi. We have the developed human nation with some of them branches of technology. We have the ancient high developed alien race(How many movies, games, books haven't we seen this). And we have the slimy bastards (again, think of all the other worlds we see this in)
I'd rather they go back to making the good games they used to. I don't want them to waste their time on something stupid like another MMO.
