I am buying guild wars can u guys answer the following questions
    1. If you wanted to become a diffrent race after you already started the account would you be able to change.
The account has 4 character slots and there are no races, we are all from ascalon, we only have classes, each character has a main class and a secondary class, when you start a character you get to choose the primary class at the start, and no you cannot change a primary class, most people have many characters as it is very easy to get them to LvL 20 and only takes a matter of days really.
    2. Can you and your team walk around killing people and taking there stuff
As you do quests the game takes you threw the story of ascalon and threw many area's, some are called explorable, I suppose another name for these would be farming area's, and they usuallly consist of many Mobs the Mobs who have a glow or aura are elite's and serve many purposes one of them to farm loot drops.
    3. Is there any skills other than combat like mining?
This game has no Mining, fishing, alchemy ect ect.., the armour is made by the NPC armorsmith you provide the mats and cash and he provides the armour, the weapons can be bought but the best are farmed.
    4. Do you make money to buy new weapons or armour.
You farm drops and sell them for gold or save them for your armor, the top stat armor is very achievable, there are more desirable armor sets in the game but there stats are the same, weapons are another story, top stat weapons can be bought from farmers in most cities, but these greens are farmed easily later on in the game, best to have a guild to help you farm them so you would be assured of the drop.
    5. If you die would you lose everything you got.
there is no real loss in dieing in the game, whilst in that particular instance you spawn with DP of -15% to stats but that only exists whilst in that particular instance, if you map back to town the DP is gone, no degen to personal belongings, and no loss of Inventory in PvP, hope this helps a bit

    Thank you
    No problem

This thread was quite comprehensive and many of these guys have been playing the game for 13 months or so

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/80029

I think most of the older players seem to like the Ranger, but I presume most also play Warrior, Necro and Ele at a push, there is a previous thread somewhere but I cannot find it, I wish we had a nice sticky on GW from one of more elequant members.

But Warrior for pre seering is always a good way to go, and then pick up the Monk for your secondary, and when you get further into the game you can try the more complex builds this is a game of "skills" not levels see this thread http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/78774 and that will shed a little light on what is ment by skill based game.

Tigercha is correct. My opinion on what class to pick for your starting character should be "What looks good?".

Just my opinion, mind, but every class is useful in it's own way, so you can't really go wrong. Pick the one that looks the best to you, then you won't be bored with the look later on. Your primary class for that character will be set, but you may change your secondary class after a ways into the game. Everything else is how you play the character. You don't even need to worry about getting equipment that's good enough, as everything but Armor will be basically provided for you. You can even get armor for free from NPC Collectors if you're patient enough.

Yes you get 6 chracter slots.  Another thing is, lets say your a warrior monk later in the game you can talk to profession changers that allows you to change secondary professions, so you can change into a warrior/ele

No in pvp you cant kill other players and get their money but in pve you can kill npcs that drop items and money

No the only skills are combat skills

Yes you need money to buy waepons and armor but sometimes if you kill bosses you can pick up good waepon drops like elite weapons, you can also salvage any kinds of drops by using a salvage kit to make crafting materials for you armor or waepon from a npc that makes weapons or armor.

If you die you do not lose everything you just revive from some other player, or you revive near a portal its similar to wow but subtract the coming back to life when your near your body

Your PVE characters CAN engage in PVP. There are arenas in most of the PVE towns and cities.
