I won a free 60 day account...

in Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted

I never really considered playing this from all the bad reviews this game has gotten, but I entered the contest anyways. I won one of the accounts and now I'm not sure what to do. I will play it of course, but where do I begin and what advice do the vets have for getting started out in the game? What is the community like? If you can throw some advice here and let me know what in the world I should do, please do so. Otherwise I will be creating a Dragon (can't play a dragon in other games, so why not) and starting on the fullest server.

    Hey folks!

    The keys are for the US shards - regardless of where you're located you can play there.

    There are three:
    Blight - testing shard and sparsely populated
    Order - Roleplay Shard
    Chaos - Regular Shard (much more heavily populated)

    After reading through here check out the official forums at http://community.istaria.com for a ton of info from veteran and new players alike.

    Also, you'll find data and noobie guides at http://horizons.gamersinfo.net

    If anyone decides they don't want to try it you're missing out, but feel free to see if you can send it to me and I'll make good use of it. :p

    Both Chaos and Order are great server communites. Chaos is more populated and all that brings with it, Order has the RP community which is actually a real roleplay community and people roleplay without being RP nazis.

    Not saying you are wrong, since when could Europeans play on US servers. I've never seen that advertised, there was a big fuss about transatlantic accounts and now that you can nothing is mentioned.::::06::

    Also do many Europeans now play on Chaos then, I know Horizons is popular in Germany and the baltic countries?

    Hmm, I won as well and am still awaiting my key...=/. I wanted to resubscribe to my EQ2 account actually but have put that on hold since I learned I won the Horizon's contest....so uh...should i just start EQ2 considering the keys might not be comming for some time now?

    hm..
    we should be glad it wasnt for European servers(those are ghost servers as from what i red on forums, and totally no support there...so its like...)

    Ok, i guess anyway soon we will get those keys, and as i have a trial account, will i be able to just add this 60 days key, and continue playing?

    As soon as I have the names of the winners, I will send the keys.

    They just disqualified a round of people and are reqauilfiying more.

    So we Basically have to wait untill the new winners(who were selected) comfirm their prizes?....and if they don't, they will get disqualified and a new set will be chozen...and if they don't..etc etc?

    Then when Its all sorted out, we may recieve them?

    EDIT: By the way, Thankyou Ophelea for taking responsibility and taking care of all this stuff. I doubt you're getting payed for this or anything.

    Yes, you'll still be required to enter a valid credit card. Unfortunately, that cannot be bypassed during the registration. 

    And, I do get paid for this, sorta. I still own and run GamersInfo.net, but Tulga has contracted several members of my staff (including myself) for customer service, content testing and website adminstration. So, my site gets paid.

    Even though *I* don't actually see any of the money - it's great to own a company and not pay yourself! - it keeps us running and that's what I care about most.

    That and well...doing a good job.

    I'll make sure you're all taken care of. Keep the faith.


    Oh yes!

    For those asking about shards....

    Blight, the testing shard - as of today it gains double XP and the pawn brokers (vendors) buy at double the price and sell their wares at half price. So, if you like really buggy play but enjoy testing, having input, and a small, close-knit group, it's a good way to go.

    OK, sent a message this morning asking for a partial list.

    But they're in Hawaii and I'm not.

    And I've got oh...93 other things to do right now? (you're in the top 3)

    BTW, they patched a new client yesterday that's got some sound bugs (they're fixing a sound problem that's existed for 2 years) and you'll want to read up on it.  Doesn't stop gameplay, just makes for some interesting sounds...

    Hopefully, by the time I receive your emails, assign your keys and get them to you, it'll be fixed but it's engineering so JUST IN CASE.

    WOOT, I love the 60 day free play. I cant wait to get it. I was going to try the trial but this is better heck If I dont like it I got a bunch of people I can just give it too.
