Some advice please

garrison13garrison13 Member Posts: 97

Just got broadband, looking to start playing some MMORPG and since Ultima 6 & 7 are among my favourite games, UO seems an obvious place to start. Does it matter which version you start with? Managed to pick up a dirt cheap version of Lord Blackthorns Revenge which seems in plentiful supply. Any advice gratefully received as I know nothing about this MMORPG lark.

Well, UO used to rule, AoS sucks, Third Dawn sucks, and UO:X will suck. So your only option is UO Rennaisance, or whatever the recent-non 3-d one that is out now is. (You should just forget UO, it sucks now. Join Lineage II In february when it comes out on the 25th.)

I've started off on Europa. Still mucking about in Haven trying to learn the ropes.

The game is pathetic unless you chose the only shard worth playing, Siege Perilous.

    No trammel.

    No insurance.

    Reds allowed in town.

    3x prices.

And a slew of other changes that make the game actually fun, not carebear land.

Come play where the big boys play, eh?

No kidding just because someone doesn't play YOUR way doesn't mean that they're not playing right....give me a break with all the 'digital macho' talk and let the man/woman play to what suits him/her.........I mean damn.

UO is in my book a great game, even in this day and age. I played for 3 years and the only reason I left was because my friends sold me on AC then DAOC......but boy did I miss those UO days of taming in the wild then catching a glance of a redname out the corner of my eye! I was a X7 GM on one character and had 3 others that 'ran' my shops: making barrels of nightshade....heh...those were the good ol' days.....Enjoy my friend enjoy.

I would have to say that UO is still the best regardless to how much they've screwed it over lately. The last expansion they've released: AOS is the worse thing that's every happened to the game. If you like it now, you would have wet your pants over it a few years ago :/

Good news is that UXO will be entering it's beta stages sometime soon, and it does look promising. I don't believe that it'll ever be as good as old school UO, but I think it'll be the best game on the market for now... If not UXO, then WOW.
