Hero Online

Has anyone been able to play it yet? I keep on getting stuck at the "Loading Character Data" part. And their site is down.

I've got the same issue, but I'm behind an involuntary firewall.  I'm not sure if it's their end or my end, and I'm afraid it's my end.

They are overloaded. So everyone gets stuck. Then everyone runs to the website. That causes it to have issues.

Number 1 on their bug list.

#1 on their bug list... ya think? No one can play the game or post in their forums, that's a nice first showing... I heard that the game's been in dev for 10 years and has been released in korea for some time. All they have to do is recode it for english and they can't get that done right? Did they test this on live internally before giving out 10,000 beta keys? Sloppy...

Welcome to Hero Online! Have a fun! thank you.

They can't even get the welcome screen on the launcher right.

Lineage 2 had the same issue. It was also a game released in Korea first. Several other games that supposedly only needed translation also had these problems. Its normal. There is more to it then translating text we will read while playing. There is also several million lines of code that have to be checked as well.

And its also a BETA!!!! Why is it when someone starts playing a game in beta they think the thing should perfect 100% with no problems whatso ever?

There is a reason for beta. To find these problems like this. If you dont like this kind of thing I advise you to wait for official release because you obviously dont have the mindset to be a beta tester.

You know all it would take for them to not write things in english that come out sounding like Gold/Adena sweatshop farmers?

    ONE AMERICAN-- Thats it.

It goes like this...Asian guy writes some lines into the game....then they say "Hey joe, you check my engrish for me?" Joes like "Sure Ill be over there in 2 mins". Joe shows up and says "that doesnt look right, I know what you are trying to say, here ya go...this looks better." Wasnt that easy?

ONE AMERICAN-- Is that so hard? I guess its too expensive...

Cause GUNZ has Chinese farmer english...

    so does Rakion...

It would take me no time to find a bunch that are the same way.

Heres what they wrote "Welcome to Hero Online! Have a fun! thank you."

and what they should of said

"Welcome and thank you for choosing Hero Online. We hope you have fun"

Or, if they want it to actually be comprehensible English, they'd get one British/Australian/New Zealander/Canadian/Singaporian/random European with English as a second language.

Hopefully this isn't a Korean Grind Fest.

From what I can tell, it's going to be a pretty basica Korean game. P&C movement, basically nocharacter customization, minimal classes, PvP endgame. I dont' know about grinding, but with everything else going by the "Korean MMO Manual", I'd bet on it.

Ack, that's disappointing. The interview sounded like it had several interesting features, but I just haven't enjoyed any of the Korean games I've tried. Click-to-move is a huge turn-off for me, customization is of significant importance, and I don't like pvp. I like the idea of the martial arts theme, the pet system, etcetera, but everything you mentioned would be a gamekiller for me on its own, let alone together. It really makes me wonder why they bother bringing Korean games to the west without trying to "westernize" them first. The two cultures clearly don't have a lot of crossover when it comes to critical features in these things.

... They made the maitenence thing (which was originally supposed to be 30 mins long) 2 hours long now... We are never going to get to play..

  • JenuvielJenuviel Member Posts: 960
I was able to get the client download started, anyway. I ended up just canceling it, though. I had it in my head that the game was something other than what it was, and it turns out that it's really not my thing at all. On the bright side, there will be that much more bandwidth available now.

Not going to play for longer than 20 min if it's point and click movement.

remember that Legend of Ares was a point and click game. After hearing the outcry of the users they added a WASD movement within a couple weeks. I'm sure as they get more and more feedback that they will improve the gameplay to a more western audience.

LoA is down alos and when you are able to get to the site and try to log in it says your account info has been deleted.  So my guess is everyone lost their characters from LoA but I hope not.

I've been in betas before, of course it's not going to be perfect. But it makes you look really bad if your servers crash the first day of a closed beta. At this point you can finally login and create a character, but at least for me it crashes to desktop as soon as you try to join. P.S. Eat me.

And to the other poster, no my korean's not good... I don't know korean and I never claimed to. Wtf does that have to do with anything?
