I admit this one looks awesome - shame there are no dates or anything on it - no holding your breath for it
As for AutoAssault ? what's wrong with it if you want a driving Mad Max style MMORPG for a while - it's great.
Lead with your face and role with the punches.

MMOs? As stated above none really. There are a few cyberpunk games in development, but years off. After reading the last newletter from Fallen Earth I have been pining for a good dark game also. A friend sugggested trying the Shadowgrounds demo on Steam. Action/arcade game and not an MMO but has about as much depth as Auto Assault, which is kinda sad. If you have Steam the demo is free and the whole game is only $20. I am considering buying it. Heck it isn't much mroe than any MMOs 1 month fee and is well done so far, but I haven't finished the demo yet due to lack of time.

Again, not an MMO, but might keep you occupied with somethign new.
To my knowledge this is the first real attempt.
AO kind of had the post-holocaustic feel to it, but then it was instance-based and the expansions sucked. So, we all said goodbye and fired up the search engines...
Auto assault reminds me of a game on the commodore 64 (yes, I'm one of those venerable ones who used these when they were really top shelf for gamers)...I think it was called Road Wars and then (of course) Road Wars Europa. Move from town to town, shoot out the enemy's tires, attack the people inside, salvage from them to fix your VW Beetle, blah blah blah.
Although I am not likely to be a fan of the psycho-twitch combat system they've described, I'm very hopeful that this is gunna kick so much ass I'll never notice
Oh, yah, and before I forget.....CHOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. persistent world = yes its got one
2. persistent characters = yes they exist
but lets delve deeper
3. quests = no
4. npcs with even the fascade of a life in the world = no
5. skills = rock paper scissors at best - not sophisticated enough to call it an RPG
hmm 2 vs 3. Ill leave it at that. This isnt really an MMORPG. It's counterstrike but you get to keep your characters. Im not knocking it...it looks great, just not an MMORPG in my book.
Sorry, but i kinda get the hibajibies when i read peoples opinions about what a MMORPG is. And you listed exactly what the definition of MMORPG is.
MMO = Persistent world
RPG = Persistent characters
There is really not more to the definition
Quests, npc's or skills aren't included otherwise it would be called MMORPGWQNPCS.
Well, actually MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online.
So it all boils down to..How many players does it support at the same time, on the same map?
For instance, BF2 and Warrock aint MMO's They are MO's(Multiplayer Online)...Nothing massively about 32 vs 32 map fighting.
So, is Huxley a MMO or a MO?
