UFC Fighter VS Top Ranked Boxer!!

logangregorlogangregor Member Posts: 1,524

Who would win?

Im leaning towards the UFC fighters as a straight boxer has little to no ground game at all. But then again I dont beleive that the UFC fighters are used to facing opponents that strike so fast and so hard.

PERSONALLY ID LOVE TO SEE ONE OF THESE FIGHTS!!

Too bad boxers are too pussy to ever agree to it.

Well if it was just using your fists then the boxer would win, but if it was both arms and legs then the UFC fighter would win. A really dumb matchup in my opinion since they fight differently.

If they are both the same weightclass and fighting MMA then the UFC fighter would win. If they are fighting boxing rules then the UFC Fighter still has a chance to win seeing as there are strikers in UFC as well.

I remember hearing a while ago that Mike Tyson may face Bob Sapp. I know Mike isn't doing much in the boxing scene, but that's the closest I heard of for a Boxing vs. MMA matchup. This fight would be under MMA rules in K1 if it ever takes place.

Overspecialize and you breed in weakness,

Heavy hitters like Chuck Liddel that can also take someone to the ground and make them tap out would annihilate a pro boxer.

Comparing boxing to ufc is like comparing bowling and football....they are both sports in which you use a ball, but they require to completely different skill sets.

I agree.  I think the comparison should really be between UFC and Pride.  I started with UFC (and I still love watching those guys), but a friend/co-worker of mine from Sweden introduced me to Pride and got me hooked.  I now think the Pride fighters are better than the UFC (in both technique and entertainment value).

I love it when people who know nothing about fighting start using the words "destroy, "kill". Any contest comes down to the individual as does this, although most boxers would beat ufc fighters as they utilise their power far better. Bob sapp v tyson, given how tyson is a shell of his former self it does make things more interesting, but i would still go with tyson in about 2 rounds maximum, bob sapp is one of the worst fighter's i have ever seen. Something to consider is that Vitali Klitschko was a top kickboxer too, so the myth that boxers can't mix it up is untrue. Ufc and mixed martial arts fighters don't box because they have not got the basic power it is that simple, i have seen their punching and frankly it is laughable at times.

I haven't watched Pride fighting in a couple years, but my biggest criticism with them was that they put too many Japanese fighters in there that weren't that good. I know its a Japanese event and they have to appeal to he home crowd, but it doesn't make for good fights that often.

I'm looking forward to UFC 61. I can't wait to see Tito mangle Ken Shamrock again, and I want to see Arlovski knock Sylvia out. Tito should be pretty fired up for this one, especially after the way he 'won' against Forrest Griffin. We'll see.

I would like to see Mike Tyson bowl though.

I DID NOT COMPARE the two sports of Boxing and UFC fighting. Yes I realize they are different sports but they both fight and it would be great to match up a couple well skilled opponents.

I think it would be an interesting fight because I hardly beleive that anyone in the UFC is used to seeing the striking speed and strength on the professional level....like for instance "Roy Jones Jr". Now dmn that would be a fight-- ROY JONES JR VS CHUCK LIDELL.

See and heres where it would get interesting. You know that Chuck Liddell if he got in on Roy could take him to the ground. But then theres that IF.......IF he doesnt get his skull pounded in by Roy while trying to do so.

I know youve probably a ton of Chuck Lidell Clips-- well take a look at Roy Jones Jr Compilation--

It would be a interesting fight--

Don't forget that Chuck has nasty hands.  Have you ever seen him fight Couture?  I think Liddell would bring weapons to a fight with a boxing-only fighter that would prove to be no contest from the outset.

roy jones in his prime would straight up embarrass liddell..and i dont care what anybody says...his hands would be waaaay to fast and accurate and chuck wouldnt land any punches cause prime roys reflexes were crazy..but if they fought now roy would be mauled cause if you've seen his last 3 fights you would know he doesnt have it anymore
