Meh it wasnt that bad as you made it sound like. I have to agree the point and lick is hard to get used to but i think eveyrthing else was amazing and impressive. Hopefully they'll change the movement to WASD but overall this game is pretty good. Its slow in the beginning but later on its gets better and better

Seriously, the rating he is giving seem to suit runescape or adventure quest more than hero online
  • Rayth3onRayth3on Member UncommonPosts: 146

Actually if RS had better graphics and better combos it would be one of the top games, but thats just what i think ^_^.

Even thoe i quit ages ago.

maybe is me , I HATE P&C badly >.< only lineage 2,others pfffffffff

The graphics on this game is fine, if graphics is the reason why you play most mmorpg games then thats kinda sad, but i think the story line and the idea of the game is what makes the game so fun to play other then just making it look good.  i mean the game already makes a greatjob of animating the characters. thats all i ask for..

    i played UA for years...

    playability > graphics
    story > graphics

    graphics helps? sure...

but is an option for many ppl...

Wel i'm just stating my view.It aint sad as you assume. If you want to comment on player instead of games, that's the sad part.No hard feeling

One thing you all fail to consider. You cannot compare F2P to P2P  and expect it to be  as grand as most of those P2P that are out there.

To be fair on any judgement of the game you will have only compare it to the other F2P out there. You cant even compare it to GW cause technically, you had to purchase it to play.

    - Character creation- it is very restricted, but different. Yes you have 2 fem and 2 male avatars to choose from. Those avatars have a preset weapon specializations.

    - Class Selection- until lvl 10 your basically an avg person trying to make a name for themselves. At lvl 10, you are allowed to choose 1 of 4 primary classes. In basic RPG terms warrior, hunter, caster, and assassin. These selections in combination of the character creation, you could have a axe wielding hunter or go odd and have a battle claw fighting cleric.

    - Rewards System- This is a thing I enjoy. After killing off X amount of mobs in X amount of time a pop-up came on. It was a simple 3rd grade math test. After it was answered correctly, I gained a chest. You do have to pay x amount to open the chest but what I got out of it was 4 times more than what  I spent to open it.

    - Leveling- This is simple. Everytime you level up, you gain X amount of points you can spen in any combination of 3 stats( Str, Dex, and Int). Seperate from character leveling you also gain skill points. These points you can use to purchase and learn new abilites. Some passive, some that require to use, some class restricted, some are universal.

I am sorry I cant tell you much of anything else. My time on the game was cut short due to technical problems on the Server's side.

I managed to get in an hour or so's play time last night in between watching the Football and server downtime. Long enough to make a few conclusions about the game..

There's no denying that this is yet another "Asian grind game", it doesn't pretend to be anything more. However! Of all the Asian grind games I've tried out in the past, this is the only one I haven't immediately uninstalled.

The graphics, while not state of the art, are definitely not a turn-off like they are in most of these types of games. I found the character models quite nice looking and the landscapes weren't bad either.
The gameplay - well it's the same old story in that you make a character, log in, then join the flock of sheep heading off mindlessly to beat up some monsters with no purpose other than to level up. But! For this kind of gameplay, it does it well. The combat is fluid, and the sexy martial arts animations make it all the better.
The character customisation is initially lacking, in that you cannot change your appearance, but seeing past that it isn't quite so cookie-cutter as you can have many different combinations of classes, weapon specialisations and skills (though only reaching level 6 I cannot comment further on these!).

I say if you're into Asian grind-fests, you'll definitely like this game. If you're not, you still might get some enjoyment from it so it's worth a try :)

From the makers of 'The Legend of Ares' comes a worse MMO attempt.

First day of closed beta. Closed for 3 hours to fix server and networking problems already. Ok,so huge surge,no problems there, and I had World Cup to watch. This game had better be worth it at midnight though.

I get in. I create 'Ruthless Blade'. I start. Yay,fully flexible camera controls! Graphics; average but never vital,as long as they work for a 3d game. Ok,now I will.....ponder what to do,AH! I need to invest some stat points. Now I can use this sword.....ho wait,2nd dan requirement? I see; martial arts, clever.

Ok,I will go talk to this guy over here....CLICK.....click click.........CLICK....................Ah,a nice widescreen cut of the general's face and dialogue. Too bad it takes 5 minutes to choose an option and even if I quit (strange how QUITTING doesn't take 5 mins) sometimes I am dragged back into the widescreen cut.

Fine. No quest direction whatsoever. So I'll head.....this way. Aha wild boars,kung-fu time! And mucho lag later,I realise they are too tough for me and that I am DEAD. After 1 minute lag-time for revive,it's....

    DELETED!!!!!!!!!

Beat that for a CRAP first impression. Only on par with what Knight Online offered, but Knight Online also had easy mobs outside the starter palace. First impressions count for me when beta testing; one wrong step and begone foul MMO.

I suppose I could have toured the safety zone a bit,and tbh spent MORE time beta testing it,but a first impression on a player is still important, and I already desire to get EVE back. Maybe with some improvements and an open beta in time,Hero may become a worthwhile addition. One for the 'to be worked on' book.

Legend of Ares granted,is the much better offering imo. I only quit because it.....didn't have anything really to hold me in,but it's the better of the 2 so far. I also hold a candle for their 'MapleStory 2D MMO' in development.

Silkroad is the current 'Asian grind MMO' (looking forward to its PvP chain) for me however.

iono if i agree with you, I persoanlly enjoy Hero online rather then the legend of Ares. its wayy better then ares. Im sorry that you didnt get a good impression from it, I think you were caught in a wrong situation as the company was trying to fix things. If you play right now, its pretty cool and not as bad as yesterday. well I dont want to put ne one down, I'm just saying that its better then ares hehehe  well see you guys in the game

My initial impressions were that the graphics are very nicely presented. The game is full of vibrant color and the environments are filled with many details. Although the graphics are not are par with today's standards, it is still imo the best graphics in a free game i've seen so far.  The gameplay is so far is fun. The combat animations make you feel like your special attacks are really strong! At each level up you get to distribute 5 points into either Strength (attack power/Hit Points) Dex (Hit Ratio/Critical Damage/Defense) and Intelligence (Magic Skill Attack/Magic Def). Skills are also very customized by finding skill books which are filled with various skills that you can learn. Although there is not much in character appearance customizing, I feel that the character builds are very in depth and provide much variety. I currently am very much enjoying this intial beta and truly feel that there is much potential in this game.

Hello i am new to this forum. I play Hero Online, and i choose the guy with white beard. I go around the castle to seek help, but i went to outside where wolf pups are. The game should have some beginner helper NPC to guide the beginners to where to kill.

The animation of the NPC are great. I have never play a game with NPC animation and it is pretty fancy.

Im liking it way more than LoA...its easier to attack in Hero, as in LoA I have trouble auto attacking the mobs...cant find anyone to help me either...

Here is what I dont like about Hero...you have to be 1dan or higher to whisper other ppl..I have tons of friends in Hero and I cant contact any of them yet...the server went down before I could reach lvl 10 for 1Dan...also I dont like the fact that the server is only up from 11am to 11pm PST...the char customation kinda blows as I prefer to pick my own class and gender and looks.

Other than those three things, I like the game play, I like the environment, I like that the fact that the armors change looks...The community seems ok so far as well.  I love the martial art moves that I have seen others do, and the horses dont cost too much.

Overall, the game doesn't seem too bad after 2 days.  The combat is decent, i was actually pleased with most of the controls, and the skill system looks like it at least has the potential to be fun.

My major complaint is the lack of customization.  With only 16 possible characters (8 male, 8 female) you get tired of seeing the same faces...I actually let a groupmate die because i wasnt paying attention to the names and I ended up helping someone else while he was getting attacked...because there is NO visual differences between most characters.

If it doesn't actually cost anything to play, I will definately continue playing.  If it does, well...I'd have to see more before I made a decision.

well, what can i say to this "new" game...

this game probably is based only on grinding, but the grind is so much that you think with lvl 10 already you are playing an advanced character...

for my taste the grind is way too hardcore since normal players with a life cant do much in 2-3 hours of gameplay, its another silkroad adventure wasting time on killing mobs instead of game content.

another point is the lack of informations about skills of each class/profession, there is no excuse for this and it would be so easy just to insert some sentences or an additional html page with such infos.

all in all, just another clone and not really a new game..i could not see any pvp, but since it is the same company which produce legend of ares..i hope pvp isnt so shitty. if you played tantra, knight online, silkroad, legend of ares, mu online, ferentus, etc. etc.... ..the games are all the same or very similar like this one, nothing really new.

All in all this is an ok game. It's a needed break from WoW for me. Since i've been playing asian based mmogs for quite some time (since the open beta for KO Malaysia) i've seen quite a few. I prefer point and click movement in games so that part of HO doesn't bother me. The way the camera controls are for rotating are bad though. it's the same way in most asian mmo's but it moves to fast. The combat aspect is fine. Your normal hack and slash with some skills usage. The grind isn't to bad. I've experienced games much more tedious then this. The quest system is below par to me. Their to short and lack content. I would comment on crafting but i have yet to figure it out, lol.

So far I'll rate this game a 7/10 moreso because it's something different

Sorry mate your wrong. That little box that pops up is a GM invoked event.

After killing a crapload of mobs, sometimes you can get a "LOT" which is like a box of fries, you shake it and bam either you get money, xp bonus, or items.

As for the game, it's ok... you would think with point and click the camera wouldn't get stuck... but it does

The gem crafting is bugged as well.

    I've only got two problems.

    1. I should NOT be able to completely own lvl 17 monsters at lvl 12.

    2. The quests happen maybe every 2 lvls and you get the shittiest rewards also considering that the games lvling isnt hard, but not easy id like to get xp as a reward instead of 5k, even though i already have 75k.

its even more ridiculous for dex-based chars - since dex controls hit rate (so you dont miss every other swing) defence AND dodge, they have dodge rate so obscenely high that lvl16's with decent gear can smoke mobs in the high 20's-low 30's.
thats the only thing that worries me, that itll wind up being that dex > ALL

GOOD - at start, I usually enjoy a new game.  This seems to be fun.

GETTING BETTER - I got skills at lvl 10, and bought a pet.  I am enjoying this game more.

BORED - raising the level of my wolf is getting tedious, and I am getting bored with this game.

FUN - I found out somethings new, like the reason I am always over-weight.  Playing a bit better, this is fun again.

EXCITED - Bought a horse, and found out that a horse pet  is much better than raising  my lowbie wolf pet.

As of now, I am very excited waiting for Open Beta and Release, so I can start a new character and build that character with my new found knowledge of this game.  I am planning on raising my character in a built not traditional formed.  The freedom to choose the stats Str/Dex/Int, and the freedom to choose pets, gives alot of different Play-Style customization.  I dont care about LOOKS customization!!!

  • handshakeshandshakes Member Posts: 73

Well I never expected anything more than a boring grind fest that I would delete after one play test. But to my surprise I found a really neat little MMO. It has a lot of little features that promote roleplaying and increase the overall likeability of the game. I think I might keep this one on my harddrive to serve as a backup game or inbetween games game.

EDIT: Well I will say that having some kind of looks customization would add a ton to the game, but I can live without it.

Why does it hurt when I pee?

Graphics: I thought they were ok not the best but still good

Gameplay: I played two characters the rod female(mage i think) and the sword female(throwing knife?) Major flaw was that they give weapons to begin with, woot! but wait unable to equip? what? why? low lvl??? lvl2?? so im am stuck kung-fuing some pups which of course takes almost all of ur hp considering ur doing 4 damage compared to their 5 damage! But of course ur missing like crazy even if u start with the knife throwing girl with suppose to have alot of dex. Oh wait i can meditate and regen WOAH awsome and i can prob activated it anytime right?? WRONG i learned that the hard way i had about 2 hp so I decided to meditate for alittle...What? need to be in peace mode? a boar comes out and i last thing i knew i was on my knees asking me if i wanted to return. other then the unable to use weapons part I thought the game was pretty clean overall.

Sounds: good i guess i thought though the music should be alittle longer instead of listening to the same thing over and over agian on loop which is a 1 minute song.

  • RyeeRyee Member Posts: 14

Not being able to eq the weapons wasnt a problem for me...I just went outside and killed the lvl 1 pups till I hit lvl 2 which was fast, and with hardly no HP loss at all..

Im not a hard core gamer so I havent hit lvl 1D yet and I was surprized to find out that you cant do much in the game untill you are at least 1D...like trading and so on...I wanted to sell a glowing blue fortune box, and I was unable to do so...also could not trade the gem I wanted to.  Also sucks that you cant whisper your friends or anyone untill lvl 1D.

Well I still have tonight to try to be lvl 10k or 1D...im 8 on all three of my chars anyway...I am looking forward to playing this for the duration.  I like that you can be whatever you want to be rather than being locked into one class.

I like that the bank is huge and that you can store items for all of your chars.

Does anyone know how much Chi is needed to shout?

Also someone corrected another when they said about the pop up box...saying that they were wrong...they were not wrong...I get the pop up box alot while lvling...I put in the answer and whalaa.. I get a surprize....the alot thing is something different.

Im liking the game and think I will stay for awhile
