From Guild Wars to...

I'm playing Guild Wars... and LOVE it. However I've played it so much over the years that it's gotten to the point where I just log in and twiddle my thumbs. I think I might need a new game and I was considering this one. It looked cool but at the same time i haven't heard as much about it as I would have thought (hype wise ect) So I know there is a already posts about if this game is good or not but I was wondering if someone could specificly answer a few questions that are important to MY personal gaming preference... (No I have not played D&D the regular pen and paper game)

1. Exp... how is it gained, is there a death penality, do you lvl at a steady pace or does it grind pretty hard?

2. Quest/Missions... are there a lot of them and do they varey in objective?

3. The world.. is the lay out nice and is it easy/fun to explore?

4. What are the Races and Classes in the game?

5. How easy is this game to pick up and play? WoW is probably as in depth as I want a game to get at this point. Too many stats and all this and that turns me off.

6. What do you like best about the game? What do you like least?

Thanks~

edit: 7. If you have another suggestion other than D&D I'd be happy to hear. To give you my tastes I started with FFXI (which I loved) and went to CoH and CoV which were fun but I didn't find have enough depth (may have changed I don't know) EQ2 (didn't enjoy it too much) WoW (Enjoyed it... but it wouldn't run on my computer.. i still might consider that)

I would suggest CoV right now, if only because of their latest villain patch.

As for this, I'll tell you the same thing I tell customers-

    Don't.

    Don't.

And when they ask me why, I tell them-

    1. It's a bastardized ruleset. (Note: I've been told this has been fixed, so.)

    2. It plays like an upgraded version of Gauntlet: Legend.

    3. Your MMO experience is limited to "run from inn to instance area," and then "run from instance area to inn," or perhaps, "run from inn to shopkeeper." It -really- lacks that massive "mmo" feel to me. It feels like I have a glorified chatroom, a bunch of instanced areas, and that it--like battle.net or guild wars or nwn, but, this time, I'm paying for it.

I don't like telling people to stay away from a game--but stay away from this game.

Or at least try the free trial first.

Having said that, to answer your questions.

    ---

    1. For solving quests. This is a nice little feature-you're rewarded based on how well you complete your quests, how many monsters you kill, how many treasures you discover, how many traps you disarm.. and there are traps, hidden.. :D

.. unfortunately, nothing's randomized, so unless you're running with a team of friendlies who understand the idea of no-spoilage, you'll probably be losing a lot of the charm to people who've memorized the whole damn thing.

    2. I'm told there are enough quests where, if you want to make it to level cap, you'll have to play each quest three times?

    3. You have a city, pretty much. And then instances. There's.. I guess you could explore instances? I heard some of them were pretty attractive.

    4. The races/classes are your standard D&D fare, except for the Warforged--who are these big robot-lookin' things. They're really cute, IMO, and are one of the things that make me want to come back.

    5. Depends. Technically, you log in, run from the inn to a quest, enter the instance. In reality, so I've been told, it's hard to find people doing quests -not- involved in farming. I'm sure they're there, though.

    6. a. The quests. And the war-forged. And the awesomeness of the dungeon-master voice.

    b. Everything else..

    7. You might want to try EVE Online. It's an interesting game, certainly not for everyone, but there's no denying its cool factor. Besides that, I'm also in search for another cool MMO. ;P

Ultimately, if you have a group of friends who want to burn 30-60 minutes a night, this game is it. Unfortunately, being that I've more or less said "It's only fun with friends," you'll have to understand that a whole bunch of other games--some that don't even charge a monthly fee--are that way too.

The only one I will answer for you is your number 2.  If you enjoy running the same quest over and over (and I mean the SAME quest, not a similar one, not one almost like the one we just did, the SAME quest), then you will enjoy DDO.

Dude if you ran the same quest over and over then you're intellectually challenged.  I've been playing free trials of this sucker for a month and in that time have played through dozens of dungeons.  By no means do you have to play the same quest over and over.  Though you will repeat quests frequently.  But not just 1 quest over and over.  Try to at least appear to be honest...

I am being honest, I just don't enjoy doing the SAME quest 3 times in a row for experience.  Yes it does happen, and if you like it, good for you.
